Well only deeper when the opposition have the ball. This is part of the quandry with our current midfielders; against the likes of City away from home - they're perfect. Energetic, sharp, can nick possession, run all day, and can break or release Frimino, Mance, Coutinho, etc.

But at home to Burnely and the equiavlent, none of them are good enough in possession to alter the shape of a game. They can't create pockets of space, they can't raise or slow the tempo, they aren't dilligent enough to wait for or manufacture an opening. They just ping it from side to side nauseatingly.

Wijnaldum, Hendo and Can are all too similar unfortunately.

Out of interest, who would you be looking to bring in this summer to rectify this?

Mate, I've no idea to be honest. We clearly can't afford (or can't attract) a Verratti, Kroos, Vidal so whomever is next in line from Europe's second-tier clubs who's going to develop into one of those types I guess.

I missed this live but saw some highlights on MOTD2.

No mention of the Toure tackle whatsoever?

Milner on Sterling considered a deffo penalty but Otamendi on Mane wasn't? Hmmm

The miss by Lallana was inexplicable. Still I'd have taken a draw pre game and I'm happy with a point from what I've seen. Need to beat Everton though.

It's just weird. Any player driving the ball through the middle of the park being tripped like Mane would been rewarded a free kick and booking, while this was not? Fucking shit.
