If Rhian Brewster's racist abuse allegations had been made under circs.similar to Holgate's I'd have had the same concerns about them, Liverpool player or not. They weren't though, so the question doesn't really arise. Each case needs to be considered and decided on its own merits.

Raising comments like that "bit bent" one from years back is daft and I have no time for it, just as I didn't when (for example) some Liverpool fans did it to Andre Gray.
 
ok ok ,none of us know if firmino said anything racist

but what I do know as do millions more ,that Holgate commited a foul ,this went unpunished ,this does not need investigateing

btw ,is the referees microphone taped , ? why did he go and talk to the 4th official?
 
The ref would take immdiate action if he heard something. If he didn't there is no case as he is standing between them.

Anyway a ban for Firmino is probably good as he look like he need a rest.

I don't, for a minute, think you would have time for it. I was referring to the (alleged) Liverpool fans who unearthed a tweet from Holgate when he said something that may be construed as homophobic when he was 16.

The circumstances of the occasion do mean there may be a reason for him to have dishonestly played the race card, they do not mean that he actually did, though.
 
The ref was facing Firmino with Holgate behind him,as if to defend him against the crazed Brazilian.Unless the ref is deaf he must have heard anything said as clearly as Holgate as he is nearer to Firmino.Firmino is in fact shouting into the refs face.If the ref didnt hear it then it wasnt said loudly enough for Holgate to hear or mishear.The ref hasnt reported hearing anything,not even an oh yeh I thought he said something like that too.Holgate is lying.Its plain as the nose on your face.Also,no one has referred to Holgate just walking off after pushing Firm into the crowd.Basic etiquette would require him to see if damage was done,apologize to the crowd a bit but no off he strides and then turns with a fuck you,what you going to do about it expression on his face.This was provocation pure and simple,and hes the injured party?What a cunt.

The FA have kicked the can down the road ...the episode was so far in the past most football fans have forgotten about the issue. (It been over 48 hours now). It was a spat (handbag swinging episode) between 2 overpaid uneducated premiership footballers. Let's all forget about it like the football fans that we are.
 
I think the delay is due to the FA searching around the world for experts and translators in ancient Sumerian, Pygmy click language, forgotten Aztec dialect Nahuatl and the J.R.R.Tolkien-invented elvish and dwarwish tongues to check for the disturbing possibility that Firmino might have cunningly a used a word of these or other obscure languages to say something vaguely racist to Holgate. After Firmino is convicted and executed they will divide up his possessions to reimburse themselves for the travel-related expenses and such.

So you assume FA really would stretch themselves to find evidence backing up crazy decisions? New politics if so is the case
 
I think they may also be waiting for a slot on Crimewatch, so that they can put out a nationwide call for witnesses to the alleged crime to come forward.
 
Ha. Reminds me of the reference in "1066 and all that" to kicking a dinosaur's tail and the dinosaur not feeling it till the following Thursday.
 
Apparently Holgate is as confused as the FA. He sat down to watch the telly the other day and when the announcer said, 'And coming up next - Gogglebox,' he swore he heard them say, 'Crimewatch'. He's furious.
 
Genuine question, do they have a post incident time limit in which they have to make a case against him?
 
Even if such a limit isn't formally set out in their rules, an action for judicial review against them might be possible based on the legal principle that "Justice delayed is justice denied". I wouldn't go that route though, because cornering them over this could increase the chances of their trying to fit Firmino up for racism.

They have no restrictions against bringing charges over tweets which date back to ancient times, so time limits don't appear to be a problem.
