There is gotta be some bias towards domestic "stars" like Rooney or even English managers like Fat Sam. They seem to get the benefit of the doubt more often than not, both in winning penalties/free-kicks for their team and not being given ones against them – just yesterday when Lovren got penalized for a totally clean side-tackle against a Bournemouth player I wondered if the same decision would be made if it were John Terry, Cahill or Stones. Judging from his reaction, Lovren was probably thinking the same.

Admittedly, we got the benefits of some generous decisions when we had Carragher and Gerrard. I guess that's the English premium people talk about, when you're trying to buy these players.
