Only comes from one source, that shitty rag.

Here is the interview. They're putting 2 & 2 together & making 5 but it still doesn't read well. It's out of context though so hard to know the full story.

Liverpool keeper Reina stunned the Kop by refusing to rule out a move to Old Trafford in the close season.
With Edwin van der Sar hanging up his gloves, speculation has been rife that United boss Alex Ferguson will try to snatch the stopper by paying the £20m get-out clause in his contract.
Asked directly about United's interest on Spanish radio station Onda Cero, Reina dropped a massive hint that it could happen.
He said: "Yes, well Van der Sar will hang up his gloves in the summer so of course they are looking.
"I can't do anything. I can't say anything logically as I have a contract with Liverpool.
"Of course one likes to fight for titles and be in a team that does that.
"We always fought to be in the Champions League and try to win the title.
"But unfortunately it hasn't been the case in the last couple of years."
Reina also refused to rule out quitting Anfield if Liverpool finish outside the top four.
He said: "I won't lie, I want to play in the Champions League and challenge for titles."

As soon as he said 'you can't blame Torres' last week or words to that effect,.I started holding the door open

No one's bigger than the club. Will be a HUGE loss, but if Reina wants to go we will def get someone equal or better in.

That's very low for such an important player for us.

Come on Krump, what did you want him to say? "What a fucking cunt of a move by a supposed 'Liverpool fan'"? He, like Carra and everyone else, played this very 'pc'. Let's hope you're wrong ... I want Pepe to lift Gerrard on his shoulders next year when we win #19.

Utd wouldn't pay the kind of insane fee we'd quote them and we would never sell to them anyway (why should we after the Heinze saga), so it's a non starter.

Reina may end up asking to leave, who knows, but I can't imagine who will be able to afford him (unless Arsenal or one of the Italian sides decide to be a bit extravagant).

I might be being pessimistic but I grouped him and Torres together in the high risk category, and as we turned into Bolton under Hodgson a lot of thunks will have happened. I'm not saying I'm certain he's off, but I won't be in the slightest bit surprised.

I fuckin' warned them but did they listen ?

DID THEY ?

Unfrigginbelievable !

If we get £30 Million, I say sell and buy Atleticos goalkeeper.
[/quote]

How does that work if he has a 20m get-out clause?

He does?
Oh then we're fucked.

What's the hurry? He's like 28 years old, and he's got at least 10 years left in him.

See reports of 20m get-out clause.

That is a big worry. I said in another thread how much I love Pepe and how I like to think his attitude is different from Torres, Owen, et al. But you never know and the lure of titles and trophies is strong. No one is bigger than the club but I would be crushed to lose him.

Maybe not equal or better, but certainly there have been a few keepers whose names have been floating around as targets for the bigger clubs. Lloris (Lyon) is one, Akinfeev (CSKA Moscow) is another and Stekelenburg (Ajax) has been doing the rounds as well. Stekelenburg (28) aside, the other two are also a few years younger than Reina (both Lloris and Afinkeev are 24). Not sure how good they all are actually since I don't watch the French, Dutch or Russian league games.

Or... we'll just save the money and make a £20 million keeper out of Gulacsi or Bouzanis (surely, we have a proper keeper out of the 2,837 we bought under the previous previous regime?)...

De Gea is by all accounts an excellent prospect but I've never been that impressed when I've seen him play. I also think he'd struggle in England because he doesn't really have the required physique. I'd rather go for Stekelenburg or Lloris.

That said I'd be devastated if Pepe goes and a shit article from a shitty rag isn't enough to get me worried just yet.

Ah well it had to happen....

If he does leave, i'm going to say out loud..."fuck all spaniards". For them, English clubs can never be 'big clubs' unless they are winning all the big trophies at that very moment and also offer them insane amount of wages every week...

Fuck them really.

When the Euro/Pound equation started to change, all the Spaniards started to leave anyway siting one reason or the other. Mercenaries the lot of them....

They are very expensive and don't have the stomach for a fight - they can all fuck off really.

It's a sickening thought, but I've given up believing in players' loyalty after what happened with Torres. Still find it hard to believe that Reina would go to United though. He'd make himself the most hated man in Liverpool.

This would fit in perfectly with the stories emanating out of anfield of a rift between reina/Torres & stevie/carra following the spainards complaining to purslow about Roy not going through the captain.

I'd be gutted if it's true but if it is we need to gt the maximum profit, preferably from a foreign club. NOT to utd, but henrys record of not selling to he Yankees rules that out anyway, and have a top quality replacement all tapped up & ready to go.

What the fuck is happening?? Does suddenly all clubs want to idolize Liverpool and their players?? Tell Fergie to fuck off.

wish all the quality players we have give us one more season to make a CL. see what henry's ambition is like is the summer. with that said, 'the most important people at the club are the players that want to be there' - KMD

Can you explain this FFF? I don't know what this means.

If it happens, it happens but till then we will continue to have his service and he will perform to his best to attract good fees.

For 20m I think we can get equivalent class of goalie somewhere.

i can't think of another keeper who'd do as good a job as pepe

i'd be crushed.

As gutting as it may be we can't keep players who don't want to be here. But Man Utd? Nah

same.

keepers like pepe are so rare. literally do nothing all game but is called on to make a save to secure 3 points and makes it or is so good keeps us in a game and we snatch a point. of a list of who I'd least rather see leave pepe would probably be top, just edging out gerrard.

We could look at Given as a replacement, i guess. We could do a lot worse than that.

But if we get Given, then we should look for a towering Centre-half who wins about everything in the air.
