Alonso loves LFC. Fucking obviously.
Just not enough to stay. He can get lost, the bastard.
I blame Benitez for him going. But that's another discussion that's been done to death.
He culd have kissed and made up with Benitez. Benitez tried to sell him after he'd been shite for a year and a half, then couldn't sell him for a decent fee and Xabi was amazing in the 08-09 season. If he really loved the club that much he would have got over it and carried on.

I don't think it has anything to do with the club. If you have a very bad working relationship with your boss, you move on and that's that.

As for his form, even at his worst for us he was still incredibly important to the side and that fact is underlined by our rather dramatic decline following his departure. We couldn't dictate games, maintain possession or remain composed. It's a joke really.

Anita, a mate of mine told me that somebody kept sending roses to Alonso's box, anonymously. His wife got really pissed off or something and started refusing to go to games or something like that. I've only just put 2 and 2 together.

Is there anything you want to share with the forum?

Haha, I'm not that much of a loser. My admirations are from a distance only.

when rafa tried to get rid I could at least 'understand' it as rafa had no idea he would going to pull out of his (relative) slump, but trying to replace him with barry. WTF, rafa. WTF?! that was the beginning of the end.

I think alonso loss proved to everyone (oncey in particular) he did more than 'just pass'.

Either that or his replacements in Lucas and Poulsen can't pass.

He had 4 seasons with us didn't he?

1st season - Excellent
2nd season - Okay but was injured for half of it
3rd season - Not so great (hence the touting around to any fucker with 2 pennies to rub together)
4th season - Best player at the club

In my opinion he was still good in those two middle seasons, he was just significantly better in his first and last.
No, it was like this

1st season - Excellent but injured for about 2 months
2nd season - Played almost every game and formed a solid partnership with Momo/Hamann
3rd season - Continued in the same vein (highlight being THAT goal against Newcastle)
4th season - Became undervalued (primarily because he was injured for half the season and people had started getting a hard-on for Lucas)
5th season - player of the season

We all hoped that, but it wasnt just 'tried to sell' though.

It was more like being whored around Europe and Wenger not coughing up the 16 million Rafa wanted instead of the 12 he did offer.

Rafa said no, we get 30 million a year later and we think it's a good deal until we get Aquilani.

mish : no one on here wanted Lucas ahead of Alonso.

NO one.

eXCEPT REBEL 23, BUT HE DOESNT COUNT.

I didn't post on 6CM then Avvy. Used to browse through the various LFC fansites (including RAWK) and it used to make me physically sick.

Ahh kk cheers. What season was it he broke his ankle? Against Chelsea I think.

I've just been on his wikipedia page, he only played 19 games one season, but it wasn't the first season, I think it was 07-08. I assumed that was when Lampard broke his ankle?

He had two long-term injuries mate. One was the Lampard tackle which broke his ankle. This was his first season (04-05) and it kept him out for 3 months. The other one a metatarsal injury he got during training in his 4th season (07-08), which kept him out for 6 weeks. He returned and the injury recurred. So ended up missing half the season.

News / 'I'll be part of bright future'

Pepe Reina is predicting a bright future for Liverpool Football Club - and insists he has every intention of being a part of it.

The Spanish custodian feels there is plenty of reason to be optimistic at Anfield, not least because of the arrival of new owners Fenway Sports Group, whom he believes can provide the club with the solid footing required to challenge for trophy success for seasons to come.

Reina said: "It's great news for the club that the debts have been settled and that the non-football side of things has been sorted. I hope Liverpool's new owners can contribute many positive things for the future.

"I believe in them and I think they can change the whole atmosphere at Liverpool again - and return the club to its former glory."

He added: "There have been moments when we've not played well, where it's been difficult to stay upbeat and positive, but this is football - and you have to fight every day to become a greater team.

"We are sailing on the same ship and we all want the team to produce the results which we're capable of. All I can do from my position is support my teammates and play my own part.

"I signed a new contract last summer and still have more than five years left to run on it.

"Obviously, I want to be part of a team that has the chance to win the title, win major trophies and to play with the best players - but I expect that to happen here at Liverpool, and for the club to return itself to that level. I plan to stick with my contract.

"When things have gone badly for us, I've tried my best to do my bit to improve the team and that's all. There is no point being sad, so I've tried to be positive at all times."

Reina remains optimistic Liverpool can secure a successful end to the 2010-11 season, admitting he's seen enough signs in the team's performance in recent weeks to suggest an improved second half of the campaign.

And the 28-year-old is adamant there are still plenty of points still to be played for in the Barclays Premier League this term.

Reina said: "I would agree that we had a difficult start to the season, but we take comfort from the fact that the team is recovering. In the last few weeks we've performed better. I'm just hoping this is the start of a good run for us in the second half of the season.

"In many ways it's just beginning now. The season is very long and this year especially we have seen a lot of unpredictable results. We must maintain calm and go from game to game. The key for us is to be strong at home, and improve our form when we're away from Anfield.

"The Premier League is so even this season.

"Anything can happen and things can happen quickly, so Liverpool must retain the faith - but we won't look too far ahead."
