Palace vs Liverpool 12:30 Sat League

He has been excellent but hes just 19 so he needs to be managed, he will have to sit out some of the upcoming games to avoid burning him out. I wouldn't be surprised if Keita comes in against Palace and Jones plays against Newcastle.

Aside from that not much we can do. Matip will come back in probably but its not like Williams depserately needs a rest.

We cant rotate Robbo, Gini, Hendo or any of the front 3 who probably need a break.
We could do this though (as I posted above) it's a good option, gives us more height which we'll need against Palace, whilst strengthening our midfield defensively whilst giving Gini a well earned rest.

————---------—— Alisson

TAA ---- Phillips / Rhys --— Matip —- Robbo
(both are very good in the air)

——----------------— Fabinho

—--------— Hendo ------------- Jones

Salah —---------—- Firmino —-----— Mane

Not optimistic about this as we had 2 very tough games where everyone really ran themselves to the ground.

Benteke is out, which is weird to say, is good news for us. He’d be bullying our CBs and has actually scored some goals of late.
Eze, Schlupp and Zaha will attack us with pace and hit us on the breaks.

I hate playing Woy and Palace. Even worse when its an early kick off and after a big win.

We’ve got 8 days until WBA and the most rest of all teams over the festive period.
Matip in, and maybe Naby for Jones. But nothing else.

Jones has to start, and anyone saying otherwise is fucking thick

Keita? A man made of false dawns and biscuits? Is this your Messiah? Nah, he can fucking wait his turn.

Mane needs a rest. Desperately. How far away is shaq?

Maybe we need a 442 diamond style. Taki behind bobby and mo. Midfield of hendo, Jones and gini

I was just reading that the Swiss FA basically have no clue what's up with Shaq - I'm paraphrasing, "He trained fine until the last day before he returned to Liverpool. We're constantly in discussion with Liverpool's medical team and we have no idea what his injury is"

Keita has at least played some good games for us. Minamino has done next to nothing so Id be inclined to put him behind Keita in the queue. At this point its more about managing fatigue than certain players being so good we cant leave them out

Its not being fucking thick when Jones could need a rest. It has nothing to with him being boss or deserving to play, because he does.
But he is 19 years old, and could need a rest in this game so not to be overplayed. Nothing else.
Thats not being thick.

I think we will have learned from our other poor performances, and now we have clear ground at the top, with some sort of settled defence I think we'll play well tomorrow.

Most of our team looking on form...

3-1 win

Id say Trent and Mané still look way off their best unfortunately. But yeah pretty much everybody else looked good against Spurs. The issue is that all the same players looked dead on their feet against Fulham.

In the big games this year we have delivered, but tended to follow it up with a loise game that dropped points. We cant keep repeating that pattern.

Mane looked like he was finding his feet again. It'd be mental to drop him. Especially as he always seems to do well against Palace.

With London now in tier 3, Palace won't have any fans on Saturday. They also had 2 games in the same amount of days, and should be equally tired. They'll no doubt go 4-4-2 with Ayew and Zaha up top. Eze and Townsend on the wing, and will look to sit back and counter attack us.

We just need a controlled performance, where we don't allow for easy turnovers and we should win the game.

Yup, Jones has played a lot of football lately - you don’t want to overstretch him physically, which could then affect his confidence. If there are any signs of tiredness in training, I would rest him for Keita and bring ”CuJo” on for the last 25-30 minutes. That’s just being sensible.

Their dangerous man is Zaha, nobody else but Zaha. Contain him and we nullify their threat. Palace home form is slightly better than our away form. Believe it or not, we've only won 1 out of our 6 away matches, with 4 draws and lost to Villa. We need to do better. Since we beat Chelsea away, we've only managed to collect 4 points out of possible 15. That puts us at 16th spot in the away table, a relegation battle level. Palace home form not that great either, with 2 wins, 2 draws and 2 losses.

United have yet to drop a single point away from home. Spurs haven't lost a match away till they visit Anfield and the same for Leicester. We really need to improve our away form if we really want to retain this title and it starts this Saturday. All we need is Gini to tell the boys in the dressing room again, "not to waste our first half again!".

Not sure we should rest Gini after his performance against Spurs. It is Hendo & Matip I am most worried about injury wise. Given the gap that I hadn't clocked, I suspect we will go near full strength. Hopefully we get to do some rotation through subs if ahead - particularly if it helps us bring Ox back into the frame.

Hahahaha made of false dawns and biscuits needs to be put on a poster of keita to remind everyone when his name is touted

We were fucked by VAR in at least 2 of those away games. That’s distorting the form. Add in city away when we were punch drunk after 20 minutes.

But so has Jones, and Jones still looks great, whereas keita will be coming back in to a team with zero match fitness. Keita coming on as a sub makes more sense than starting him, as against tired legs he might be able to take the game at his own pace.

Taki I agree hasn't done enough, but in my setup we might see the runs from deep, without the need to be the spearhead of the attack. There's a reason we bought him, and I think he could thrive in that role.

Rumours that Salah’s benched for this with Minamino playing instead.

Different source than normal, so not sure at all.

Regardless. It's the end results that counts for me. We can't be crying over "VAR screwed us" till the end of the season. We should have buried some of those matches, especially the ones against Brighton and Fulham.

When the team is playing every 3 days I cant imagine there is much training happening between fixtures for the first XI. Theres probably recovery work and some tactical prep for the next fixture but unlikely the players are doing much between a Wednesday night game and tye following Saturday morning.

Thats probably part of the issue bringing players back into the team after a lay off the pace is so hectic we are asking them to jump onto a moving train.

That wasn’t my point. My point is we aren’t playing poorly away from home in general. Against Everton and Brighton we should’ve had 3 points. Reasons out of our control seem to that.

Put Mane's offside call next to Son's and tell me who got more of an unfair advantage. We've been shafted by the refs this year...

Dont like it, but its probably Salahs turn to be rotated.
Would have started all 3 again though.

It’s not the 2 games tiredness it’s the 3 games in 7 days.
