Our new back up striker?

Most of all these rumours are probably bollocks but I like the fact that we're seemingly looking for potential young and talented players too bolster our frontline.

Talking about potential back-ups, the Norwegian lads on here should take a good look at that Dame N'Doye fella playing for FC Copenhagen when they visit Rosenborg in tonights Champions League qualifier.

He's been tremendous of late and I'd like to hear your opinion on him. He's strong, very dangerous in front of goal and pacy. And surprisingly skillful on the ball as well.

Another potential target now that Roy's arrived (he's still in contact with people in and around FC Copenhagen) is their Swedish LB Oscar Wendt (whom Ossi probably doesn't rate the tosser).

Techincally adjust, pacy and a good crosser of the ball.

A Swedish journalist believes Toivanen could be an Anfield favourite...but the mentioned journalist is a poor one. Perhaps I´m too negative about Toivanen, us Swedes are (as opposite to our Danish friends 😉) overly critical/skeptical about "our" players.
It's only because of his Finnish surname you're doubting him isn't it?

ISN'T IT?

Sven won't be pleased as per.
Nah, I´m Finnish (with a Swedish passport) but I´ve lived my whole life in Sweden.

I just cringed at signing an African lad from Norway...

not really sure why.... because that CM from Ghana was very impressive during the world cup.

He's playing in Denmark if you are referring to Dame N'Doye... anyways Obi Mikel came directly from Norway and he's done quite alright.

I'm trying to post a clip with Toivonens first 5 goals for PSV in their first two matches this Season but I get an internal server-error just so the 6CMers know.

Yes, I posted that on the Youtube thread in the GC forum as well. Internal server error everytime you post a youtube link.

I got the same message on Saturday and brushed it off. Couldn't be bothered as I thought there was something wrong with my connection.

Apparently Toivanen is in Russia for PSVs Europa league qualifier against FC Sibir Novosibirsk. It will be interesting to see if he plays.

Glenn Hysen;

Glenn Hyséns advice: Take a chance, just do it for God's sake!

The old captain would like to see Ola Toivonen in Liverpool
Ola Toivonen, 24, courted by Liverpool.
Council from an old, Swedish-Pool Captain is not particularly difficult to interpret.
- Test, my God. Take a chance, do it for God's sake, "said Glenn Hysén.
Sportbladet writes today that Liverpool have made a bid for Ola Toivonen, perhaps the hottest Swedish footballer in Europe right now.
The top English club are prepared to pay 130 million kronor for the Swedish striker as he is pouring out goals during the season run-up in Holland.
The main character himself has not commented on the bid and the time of writing sits Toivonen on a plane en route to Novosibirsk for a qualifying match for Euro League on Thursday.
No one knows whether he himself tempted by a move to England and the Premier League.
"I hope it happens"
Glenn Hysén is the only Swede who has played first-team football for Liverpool. He was captain of the club and played there from 1989 to 1992.
Hysén has read the news of Liverpool's interest in Toivonen, and he hopes that the deal is on.
- I hope it happens, Liverpool is a club he will enjoy, "he says.
Like it is one thing - the place and perform another?
- It's a big difference in the Dutch league and the Premier League but Ola looks damn good right now and I think he is a Player Type that suits Liverpool.
- Precisely the role that has Ola, of forward, would be needed. You do not have a speed ball there, but someone who is smart and can lie in the void between midfield and attack and control.
What speaks to Toivonen will succeed in Liverpool, if the deal is off?
- He has all the qualities needed. He is PSV's clear shining star now. The big question is well if he can handle the pace. It would anyway be very interesting to see him in this role in Liverpool.
So Glenn Hyséns advice reads?
- If he gets the chance ... Try, my God! I would grieve myself to death if I did not take such a chance. Take a chance, do it for God's sake, there is nothing to hesitate about.
Loud and clear, as usual.

I'm Norwegian. I translated it quickly through google, but made some changes as there were a couple of clangers in there.. 😉

Those Vikings, they are all the same thing.

Raping our wives, stealing our pigs ............

Yes mate, Cheers!

Toivonen looks very good, I think he'd be a good signing.
Possibly, but I'm automatically sceptical regarding the signing of Swedish players. I still have terrible memories of players like Andreas Andersson who played for Newcastle and AC Milan. Probably the worst striker I've seen play for the Swedish national team and there were more players like him.
I hope he does well. Would be fantastic to have a successful Swedish striker in the Premier League.

Swap deal with Babel ?
That's the basis of another link.......................

Liverpool are hoping to secure the signing of highly rated Costa Rican Bryan Ruiz and Roy Hodgson is willing to offer Dutch winger Ryan Babel as part of a swap deal to help seal the FC Twente striker’s signature. The 24 year old goal machine has been a big hit in the Eredivisie, scoring 24 goals in his first season to help his side to their first ever domestic title.

A number of Europe’s elite have been monitoring the 24 year old for some time and the departure of Steve McClaren for Wolfsburg has appeared to have had an unsettling effect on the club as they started the new season with two limp draws.

The adaptable attacker can play in a number of positions but excels as a speedy striker and could be just the kind of player the Anfield manager is looking for as he attempts to boost his attacking options. Ryan Babel may be keen on a move back to his country of birth and may feel a move to a side competing in the Champions League may be a good step to take as opposed to reported interest from Birmingham City.

Ruiz is valued at around £14m so any deal could well involve the Merseyside club having to fork out some cash as well as the £9m rated Babel.

Is there anyone playing in the Eredivisie who hasn't scored over 20 goals last season?

He has the same name as Torres' bird.

His presence would surely create space for Nando.

Meanwhile, Hodgson remains eager to bolster his forward line and yesterday admitted PSV Eindhoven’s Sweden international striker Ola Toivonen is a leading target.

“We have discussed his name, that’s true,†said the manager. “Like all teams, we are looking at a lot of players. I do know the player and think he is a good player, but can’t give you any further indication.

“That doesn’t mean we are going to rush in and buy him tomorrow. But he is a player who has come up, we have watched him and we know about him.â€

Didn't he say something exactly like this just before we bought Poulsen? Fingers crossed.
