Ola Toivonen I presume.

Is he any good?
[/quote]

Yes, Ola Toivanen.

He´s promising but I doubt he´s good enough. Roy has good knowledge in Swedish football though.
Probably just newspaper-talk.

Already in the transfer thread. But I suppose this might be a legit rumour given Roy's links to Sweden.

I'd like to know more about the player. I've seen him play 3-4 times and I've been impressed every time. Shades of Gudjohnsen and Viduka in him. Ossi, would you care to elaborate?

Well...he´s quite big, strong and has a good passing ability but he´s more of an #10 player than a striker (and we have at least 3 better players in that position already). But then again: He has scored 5 goals in his last 3 games (I think) so perhaps he´s maturing into a striker. A inconsistent player.

Ive got some sort of memory of him scoring a goal against England u21's. I think it was him. Freekick, right footed strike past Hart from about 25 yards. If its the same person i think he had a decent tournament.

I stand to be corrected, but strikers who have been incredibly successful in the Dutch league often seem to dry up when they get to the Premier League. Kesman is one example - he scored goals for fun in Holland but hardly scored any when Chelsea signed him.

I'm afraid we also have to include Deadly Dirk as another example! :🙂

KHL to advise!

Admittedly I don't know much about him mate apart from his very decent goal-ratio at PSV of late.

I take Ossi's in a better position than I to judge whether he'd be a decent back-up. And he doesn't seem to excited.

According to stories in Sweden today, we've bid 10 mill and PSV will most probably accept this.

A Swedish journalist believes Toivanen could be an Anfield favourite...but the mentioned journalist is a poor one. Perhaps I´m too negative about Toivanen, us Swedes are (as opposite to our Danish friends 😉) overly critical/skeptical about "our" players.

£10m is too much.

I've watched him a couple of times and he's got all the attributes we are looking for.

6'4 target man
Pacey
Very good technical ability
Can play upfront on his own or off Torres
Very strong in the air
Young and regarded as one of the hottest prospects in Europe
Seems to be on fire this season, 6 goals in 3 games so far.

Perhaps it's euros?

Liverpool interested in £13m-rated Dynamo Kiev striker Artem Milevskiy
Reds have to sell before they can buy the forward...

17 Aug 2010 08:15:00

EXCLUSIVE
By Wayne Veysey | Chief correspondent

Liverpool are considering a move for Dynamo Kiev forward Artem Milevskiy as manager Roy Hodgson looks to bolster his strikeforce.

The Ukrainian international is seeking a move abroad after eight years at Kiev and is a target for Hodgson should funds become available at Anfield following Javier Mascherano’s proposed £25 million switch to Inter Milan.

Hodgson has stated his desire to add attacking reinforcements to his squad as his current striking options are limited to Fernando Torres, David N’Gog and Dirk Kuyt.

Strong, intelligent, versatile front man
He has most recently been linked with West Ham striker Carlton Cole and PSV Eindhoven forward Ola Toivonen, but now the highly rated Milevskiy has joined that list of targets.

The 25-year-old would not come cheap and his club are demanding a £13m transfer fee with little room for negotiation. With Liverpool’s ownership uncertain and debts of £237m with the Royal Bank of Scotland, the Reds would have to sell before they could afford to make a bid for Milevskiy.

Liverpool are just one of a number of Premier League clubs tracking Milevskiy, who has been heavily linked with Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow during the summer.

"Milevskiy is a player who could play for Liverpool, Manchester United or Chelsea," his agent Dennis Lachter told Goal.com UK. "He is a top level player and we have had some serious interest from one major Premier League club.

"At the moment English teams are waiting until they have more money before they buy players.

"But when the market starts to move, managers will have more money to spend and then something might happen.â€

Milevskiy is considered one of the most talented players in Eastern Europe, a technically skilful forward who prefers to play off a targetman rather than as a main striker, despite his 6ft 3in frame.

Lachter has urged suitors to make their move for the Belarusian-born forward sooner rather than later and has warned they face a tough task in convincing Dinamo Kiev to sell their star man.

He added: "It can take many days and weeks to sign a player from Ukrainian and Russian club – it is not a transfer you can do in one day.

"It is not a great joy to negotiate with these clubs – I can tell you this from many years of experience.

"At the moment Milevskiy will continue to play for Dinamo Kiev – but in football everything can change in an hour."

Apparently not in Russia or Ukraine.

Latest rumour is that we're after Ricky van Wolfswinkel of Utrecht. Dutch U-21 international who just made his seniot debut last week. PSV are sniffing too.

Nice name btw.

It's only because of his Finnish surname you're doubting him isn't it?

ISN'T IT?

Sven won't be pleased as per.
