I preferred Liverpool when I visited there if I'm honest ... Granted, I'm not a 'big city' boy!

Does this mean you don't consider Liverpool a big city? 😡 😉

Won't be surprised if the TC's dossiers suggest he's not suitable/good enough. VdV and Keita examples may be exceptions (anyway, their stats are impressive so no surprise) but the way the TC works, I don't think they just take the Manager's suggestions/wanted list and move to sign them.
Theo Walcott believes Arsenal have signed an “animal” in the form of Sead Kolasinac and says the left-back can become one of the best defenders in the Premier League.
Kolasinac, a free transfer signing after his contract at Schalke 04 expired in June, replaced the injured Per Mertesacker during the Community Shield win over Chelsea and headed Arsenal’s second-half equaliser. Despite being deployed in central defence during his hour on the pitch he also caught the eye with some marauding runs from the back and Walcott has seen enough to believe Kolasinac’s power and physical condition will be vital attributes.
“Sead looks an absolute tank,” Walcott said. “He’s one tough unit to get past and I’m sure his physical attributes are going to be key to us this season.
“Honestly, he is an absolute animal. He’s incredible. I see him in the gym every day; you can just tell he looks after himself well, he eats the right food and he’s professional. You can see the power he’s got when he’s got the ball, his pace and everything. It’s beautiful to watch and he’s a great addition to the squad.”
In a hyper-inflated transfer market the German-born Kolasinac, who is 24 and has 18 caps for Bosnia & Herzegovina since being naturalised in 2014, certainly appears to be a bargain. He has been a tough opponent for Walcott in training, too, and the England forward thinks he is equipped to be an instant success.
“Trust me, he’s not easy to get around – he’s quite wide as well,” Walcott said. “He fits perfectly for the Premier League, he’s absolutely perfect. He’s going to show something different. I’ve seen glimpses of him in pre-season and he’s going to get fitter, stronger and quicker. This league is the best and I think he could be one of the best in the league.”
There is no possible dossier or statistic that would place Robertson higher than Kolasinac. He was probably Schalke's best and most consistent attacking threat last season and he's a better defender than Robertson, physically stronger, equally quick, better header of the ball, better shot. No surprise that he scored in his first official match for Arsenal. And he was free, while Robertson cost £8M+ add-ons.
No disagreements with that at all. That said, with their track record, I won't be surprised with their misjudgment. Pretty amusing if it was Klopp himself who actually preferred Robertson over Kolasinac esp. since he would have know more about the latter.
Doubt it, Klopp is not stupid. Also the way we strung Robertson along for several weeks, clearly waiting for some other pieces to fall into place (or not), doesn't make it look like he was our prime target. As crazy as it sounds, the most plausible explanation I can think of is what I outlined before – we cooled off on Kolasinac to protect Milner's place at LB, thinking we'll get Keita, then we didn't get Keita so Milner is getting pushed back into midfield and as a result we are left hoping that either one of Moreno or Robertson can step up at LB. In short, we're dickheads.
Yup, which is why I have been questioning the TC's role/influence more than Klopp (despite the reasons/excuses he mentioned in the press).
Yeah, given how we bidded for Chilwell last season and supposedly had Sessegnon as our preferred target, doubt a 1st choice LB was on the cards.
Don't fall for it lads. Moreno will break our hearts soon again. Remember the Europa League Final, don't forget the pen he gave away against Norwich.
