Our fantastic new left-back

Watford inquired from Liverpool if Moreno is likely to play against them in the season opener.
If the answer was affirmative they said they would wait until after the match to make an offer for him

We did. Lallana with a last min winner?

Still doesn't excuse Moreno's performance. He actively did he best to give away a pen that day. He's a bird brain.

Hanging around pointing fingers against individuals after a game we won is not me
.. young boys in a heated moment makes mistakes. We won, got 3 points and live well with all of them.

Yep they are best of freinds, their wives are also best of freinds. They are pretty much inseparable.. Its been well documented in the media..

Seriously, I beleive if he goes, it will give Coutinhio the reason to leave..

For that reason, Moreno will stick around for at least another season..

We should give him to Everton then. He can still hang around with Coutinho, and we weaken Everton. Everybody that counts wins

I can't believe that is a story. Ha.

If Coutinho leaves it will be because he wants to go to Barca and play with Messi, Suarez and co. I'd be surprised if selling Moreno would drive him over the edge and leave. If Moreno staying DOES in fact keep Coutinho here then by all means keep Alberto the joker about the place.

Another good performance. I'm not quite ready to resurrect my faith in Moreno based just on a couple of pre-season performances, but let's just note that he played well again in this game – seems to be sharper and more precise in attack than he was last season and no fuck-ups defensively this time.

My major gripe with Moreno wasn't his useless defending, but the fact that for all his pace and talent, he just doesn't do much offensively.

He's a poor passer and generally an unintelligent user of the ball. If he improves that part of his game alone, perhaps he'll have a net positive impact overall.

With the kind of pace and talent he has, he should be averaging 10 assists a season, and being a terror on the left flank. If he does that, I'll be willing to excuse his dodgy defending.

This pre-season has been quite promising.

Cross posted.

If Klopp is basing his decision on pre-season then I've got to say that's poor. He's had all of last season to assess him in training and he found him to be wanting, rarely putting him on even as a sub. It's the reason he was clearly up for sale and would have gone if the offer was £15m instead of £11m. And now he's good enough again ?

We have been in control for most of our pre-season games and it's in those games that he shines because he has serious pace and sometimes a good cross on him, not that he played that often anyway (though he did play the whole game vs. BM). However his defensive weaknesses have not regressed, he is still dives mindlessly into tackles and is very positionally suspect.

My prediction now is that if he gets games then we'll soon revert to Milner + Robertson as our two to go to with Moreno not even on the bench and discarded.

Maybe there is some truth in Coutinho wanting his BF to stay. "Boss, I'll stay and forego a move to Barca but only if Moreno stays too" !

The more I think about it the more likely I find it to be that Moreno is now being kept to back up Robertson because Milner is going to (occasionally) fill that Keita-size hole in midfield. Depressing.

Obviously we've not received any decent offers for him. It's unlikely that he's going to leave so Klopp may as well put a positive spin on things.

He's played well recently so maybe a bit of confidence heading into the season will help him progress.

Klopp fucked up with Sakho so I'm happy seeing him take this stance. Who knows, there might be a team out there interested in him and are sneakily waiting for the last week of the window to put in a low bid (loan with option). His improved form and Klopp's perceived increasing confidence with him might make them pay what we want.. (doubt it)

It's pretty obvious that if little Phil wasn't a footy player he'd have been that geeky try hard kid being bullied all the time.

This pre-season has been quite promising.

Ryan Kent calmly proceeded to take a corner with his right foot, and then later another one with his left foot. Moreno can barely stand on his right foot, let alone kick a ball with it. It shouldn't be that hard for obscenely well paid players to work on their weaker foot in their own time in training, but Moreno continues to almost rupture himself in twisting his body to hit across the goal with his left foot when a simple tap with his right foot would send the ball past the keeper. He remains the most brainless player on the planet.

Yesterday he gave the ball away in defence and then walked - yes, WALKED - after the opponent, and other defenders got the flak for the incident. He has no conception of what a defender is supposed to do.

He should set his sights on becoming a mediocre left-side attacking midfielder. It'd take a huge effort, but it's his best chance of not completely insulting the very idea of football or, indeed, that of a sentient human being.

If we don't bring in any midfielders, he'll probably stay.
Nothing special but it was really expected. It is the easy(/easiest/laziest) way out.

Still time to change this, hopefully. Just hope the asking price hasn't escalated beyond reasonable.

Yeah. When we let Kolasinac sign for Arsenal without a fight (despite apparently being interested in him before and him fitting Klopp's and FSG's profile and being available on a free), the only explanation I could think of was that Klopp really really likes Milner at LB and for that reason wants to buy a young understudy to him rather than a player who might replace him. I mean, you can make a plausible case for it: we have a young team and Milner's experience and calmness is crucial, etc. The earlier interest in Sessegnon seemed to confirm that theory.

If the plan was all along to have Milner back in rotation in midfield then the above makes no sense. With all respect to Robertson qualities, he is currently far behind Kolasinac as a complete full-back. It does look like we're pushing Milner to midfield only because we couldn't get Keita and now we are hoping that the combination of Moreno and Robertson will fill the resulting void at LB. I like to be positive, but this doesn't fill me with confidence at all. Klopp sounds like he's trying to make the best out of a bad situation, which is hardly what you want near the end of a crucial transfer window that was supposed to cement our status as a CL club.

I'm with macca on this one. I watched this amoeba brained halfwit lose his man time and time again yesterday. He runs Glen Johnson close in the "not knowing where the fuck my man is" category. Launch the cunt into space.

[article]Kolasinac[/article]

Looks like such a good player @rurikbird eh?
A bit confused why Klopp has paid so little attention to the Bundesliga since arriving ..

He might be paying it close attention, but no cunt wants to sell to us. Only we. One we got was Matip, and that was because he was free
