Probably the wrong thread to post this in but thought it's worth sharing

[article]A Centenary statue to symbolise an Eternal Sentiment

In the final game before Valencia CF's Centenary, a new addition to Mestalla that pays homage to the past, present and future will be unveiled. A bronze statue, located on Seat 164 of Row 15 in the Tribuna Central section, is an acknowledgement from the club of every Valencianista who has ever felt the 'Eternal Sentiment' present over the past 100 years.

There is an emotional story behind the statue itself, and its location in the stadium: Seat 164 was where Vicente Navarro Aparicio, Valencia CF member No.18, sat at every home game until his passing. He would also travel to away matches, witnessing moments such as the 1967 cup final against Athletic Club, but would lose his sight at age 54 due to a detached retina. Whilst he was unable to watch his club, his passion for VCF never waned. Vicente kept coming to Mestalla, along with his son, experiencing games in a different way as he had the events on the field described to him. He was present for the 2004 double winning season, which he described as the happiest year of his life.

Although he and so many other Valencianistas are no longer with us, his is a story that exemplifies the passion fans have for the club. It is a sentiment worthy of celebration, and from Sunday's game against Getafe, Seat 164 will serve as a permanent reminder of what it means to follow Valencia CF.[/article]

I thought this was a tribute to Reyes at first glance

Grand Old Team are in full-on cope mode with a thread playing on the classic Everton fan meme "You Think This Is Bad, Son?" outlining how things could be worse, by highlighting every shit Everton memory of recent times

I remember when we hired Sammy Lee

I remember when we had a scrapheap of Gascoine, Ginola and Pistone on the same pitch

I remember when we sent a delegation to Portugal to land Moutinho and came back with Segundo Castillo

You think this is bad son?
I hadn’t seen Everton in person for absolutely years until I just got to my seat in time to see Antolin Alcaraz head into his own net at St Mary’s.

Think this is bad son? I remember when Steve Watson was our centre forward..

I remember we all got excited because we had signed Jermaine Beckford, for free

Argentina legend Maradona tells FourFourTwo he could be the man to help the Old Trafford “win trophies” again

Legendary footballer Diego Maradona is currently managing lowly Dorados in the Mexican second division – but has told FourFourTwo he could return Manchester United to their former glory.
In an exclusive interview, he also reveals his verdict on the current Reds side.

The former Argentina coach has managed two teams in the United Arab Emirates in recent years, before taking up his current role with Dorados last year.
For the July 2019 issue of the magazine, FourFourTwo sent Editor at Large Andy Mitten deep into Mexican cartel country to track him down.

And speaking to FFT, Maradona revealed the heights of his managerial ambitions: “If Manchester [United] need a coach, I’m the man to do it,” he said.
“I know they sell lots of shirts around the world, but they need to win trophies, too. I can do that for them.”
He also said that he has long held warm feelings towards the Reds.

“Manchester United used to be my favourite English team for so long. So many great players and a great team under Alex Ferguson. But now I have to say Man City. I know you shouldn’t change like that but it’s because of Kun [Aguero]. We speak a lot and he plays in a very good team.”
And he revealed he already has some firm views on United’s team – while praising the atmosphere created by fans.
“With United I liked Ander Herrera. Paul Pogba? Doesn’t work hard enough.
“I played at Old Trafford [in the 1983/84 Cup Winners’ Cup quarter-final]. What noise, like La Bombonera.”

I assume there is lots of footage on these forums of our players singing songs about their team post the Champions league final.
It is us after all who is obsessed with them.

[article]Kiyan Prince was a promising footballer in Queens Park Rangers' academy, but was stabbed to death outside his school when he broke up a fight in 2006, aged 15

Just 15 at the time, Kiyan Prince attempted to break up a fight outside his school on 18 May, 2006, but lost his life.

His father, Mark, set up The Kiyan Prince Foundation to educate young people about the devastating consequences of knife crime and said: “I can’t tell you what this means to Kiyan’s mum, to me, his brothers and sisters, his friends and people who have been supporting the work we have been doing.

“Kiyan was a very special young man. We hear many stories about his kindness and good nature so to have the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium at a place where his skills were honed is a dream come true.

“It means so much and only confirms the relationship that I know I have with the QPR fans. They always give me their support.

“This gives us so many opportunities and we have to make sure we capitalise on them. Kiyan would be blown away by what is going on.”

In a statement, the Championship side revealed fans were invited to nominate a local charity which would be gifted the naming rights of the stadium. From those nominations a shortlist of five charities was drawn up by the club for supporters to select their preferred choice and The Kiyan Prince Foundation received more than 63 per cent of the overall vote.[/article]

Not sure this belongs in the meltdown thread Binny.

There’s a glitch in the Matrix!!!!

Better be careful in case Binny decides to enslave us all as human batteries!!!
Was wondering about that the other day. Why wouldn’t super intelligent robots simply harness wind, wave, or even geothermal energy (given that the skies were scorched). Easier than maintaining the matrix.

Or burn the food for the humans instead?

For shits and giggles?

I heard the other day that the reason so many UFOs are seen by the military or by miliary bases is because the UFOs are the aliens and they think planes are people. Totally sold on this idea. Make a decent Pixar film.

Effectively the premise of Cars, but with batteries not included thrown in

A movie about aliens harvesting renewable energy, where do I sign up?

c/o Dantes.

Unless it’s established he’s from a different dimension rather than a different planet - in fact both are possible.

Lads have you clocked this thread on RedCafe? http://www.redcafe.net/threads/champions-league-final-2019-spurs-v-liverpool-1st-june.447352/page-66

There's too much there to copy and paste but it is funny. It's like some weird internet version of bi-polar. Some are happy and polite, some are bitter and twisted. Some are torn either way. I was going to post it earlier but I figured it would be funnier to let it ferment.

Enjoy - It's a great read.

A 76 page thread on a Man Utd forum about a Liverpool game.

That's quite spergy even by Red Cafe standards*.

*actually no, it isn't

There is a weird thread on Redcafe that is dedicated to TAA. It's funny reading it. I'll post the link so you can see for yourselves

http://www.redcafe.net/threads/trent-alexander-arnold.431614/

It was started awhile ago. I've been enjoying it immensely (my favourite bit is the response to the Barca goal). It's actually quite complementary for the most part (how could it not be?) - There are some proper whoppers on there though that refuse to see what is bleeding obvious. Apparently some guy called Kimmler (sp?) is way better because he has more assists and goals. It's 10 pages long! LOL!

Oh and fuck me do they lament the fact that it's Young and Shaw (he is fat apparently) occupying the positions of TAA and Robbo. Two of arguably the best in their positions in the world right now. Couple that with the fact we only paid 8Mill for Robbo and Trent was through the youth system. You have to laugh really. 😀
