PORTSMOUTH are lining up a £45 million sell-off of stars Glen Johnson and Peter Crouch if their controversial takeover collapses.

Manchester City and Chelsea last night emerged as favourites to land Johnson while Spurs boss Harry Redknapp will have to pay up to £25m to sign Crouch again – more than twice as much as he paid Liverpool for the striker while at Fratton Park.

They were all put on alert as doubts mounted over the proposed £60m takeover of the club by Abu Dhabi businessman Sulaiman Al-Fahim.

Club sources say the deal could collapse quickly if the man dubbed ‘Dr W
