A new goalkeeper.

Forget about the ones at similar clubs, or clubs that are CL regulars for the minute.
Oblak would probably be my choice if we could sign anyone, but we might as well be realistic.

Who are the good ones we might be able to sign ?

The Athletic Bilbao young goalkeeper is supposed to be pretty good (general opinion and reports, I have not watched him play) and on a Bosman next year. Can negotiate with other clubs in January. But I think Real has made him their next target.

I said GK and LB should have been a priority in the summer and got told they were at the back of the list.

Two shit keepers and a seemingly pointless signing at LB and we are worse off now.

At least Milner was solid last year at LB.

Butland would be my pick currently

Yeah, I agree with Ryan. It's hard to see Klopp going for a new keeper.

As for who we'd sign, no idea these days.

By all accounts Ederson at City is looking very good and don't recall him ever get a mention so maybe it doesn't have to be someone with a really high profile.

What's the point of spending a fortune on a new goalie who is just going to be exposed to fuck by our wank midfield and defence?

The problem is our current one have been contributing to the fucks up with individual mistakes, dodgy decision making, regular flaps, or just being generally shit.

Bravo was promptly dropped and now they got in Ederson who has not made ANY mistakes in his 15 games or so so far. That's the kind of standard we should be aiming for.

Ming has been rotating between being a clown, dodgy, un-tested and average this season.

Kepa, I think. Played against us in pre-season. Looked pretty agile, but not very tall, and very slender. He'd probably really struggle with the physicality of the game in England if he came here.

I've always liked Yann Sommer when I've seen him. Very assured, and good all-round keeper.

He's 29 already though. And he's only 6'0.

If you can stomach watching all 3 goals against us again, in between those you'll see that Karius actually played well in this game. Distribution and command of area was good; he wasn't at fault for any of the goals and probably earned us a point with some of the saves. I'm not sure about the decision to come out so far out of the goal for Ben Yedder's shot that went wide in the 1st half – at the time I thought it was rash, but it may have also surprised the striker and contributed to him rushing his shot and missing. Ming definitely would have stayed much closer to the line in that situation.

Priority should be CM as our midfield is wank. If our midfield offered more protection we wouldn't be in half the mess we are in now. Don't care how good your defence is if the opposition is going through your midfield like a blow torch through butter you're gonna get fucked. Look at how wank chelski were looking while kante was out and the difference with him now back.

A real leader at the back, preferably a central defender.

Van Dijk could still be the one who fits the bill but anyone could do really, if they are awesome at football. And leadership.

I'd be surprised if Klopp thought a new goalkeeper was number one priority.
He clearly doesn't and at this stage, unless something drastically changes (new manager) then I doubt we'll see any new keeper next Summer. More than likely Karius will be asked to step up by Klopp.

It's difficult to pick just one isn't it.

We have Naby Keita coming in so the midfield is strengthened considerably right off the bat, maybe Wijnaldum will improve with Keita next to him (because Henderson looks done and Can will be off). We still need another more defensive minded (needn't be an out and out DM) though as Keita is box to box.

If we get VVD this January then that's another pick saved for another position. If not CB is the most critical.

I have reservations spending £70m on a defender who could go out injured at any point for the whole season which will leaves us back to where we are now. I would love for us to Godin even though he is 31

Even Neuer would turn to shit behind that defence. I think if we sort the defence out, mongolet and Karius will mysterious come good.
