And a bacon sandwich. 😉

I'm not at all convinced by your suggestion that moving countries is easier for younger players - on the contrary, a few extra years of experience might have helped Fellatio settle in more quickly, especially on the disciplinary side. But in any case nobody's making any exaggerated claims for Jovanovic here. All we're saying is that he deserves a go. I'm sure we'll have had him watched for some time before moving in for him.

History has also shown us that the pace of the prem can be extremely difficult for 'older' players to adjust to if they take the move later in their career.

I'm personally not excited at all by the prospect of Jovanovic but perhaps I'm mistaken and beeing a bit to harsh on him. One good game (where he also missed a sitter btw) at the WC just hasn't convinved me at all.

Would I prefer him to Babel? Probably not. And as I really hope we're buying someone GOOD/PROVEN/VERY TALENTED for the LW spot as well as a good back-up striker I'm rooting for him to chose Inter.

Not sure which older players you have in mind there, but in any case that's going to differ from one individual player to the next.

Nor am I sure which of us is that excited by the arrival of Jovanovic. It's more a degree of quiet optimism, based not only on one game but also on the fact that, as previously said, he'll have been watched for some time before we went in for him, so there's reason to suppose that that good game is properly representative of his ability.

Would I prefer him to Babel? I'd prefer YOU to Babel, and trust me, that's saying a lot....

At my peak I was/is actually a rather splendid footballer albeit a bit to heavy these days. Almost as pacey as Babel but certainly less of a rapper.

Having seen Pavlyuchenko at the Euros I think it's fair to say he's got talent in abundance. Wouldn't be a bad bet at all in my opinion.

Name me one player who's made a great impact on the Premiership as a forward/winger/striker after arriving directly from one of the lesser leagues late in his career? (I'm not saying there isn't any I'd just like you to mention me a few).

He's played five years in Russia from 2003-08 and no-one has been interested.

I'm not at all convinced by one decent game during the Euros. You guys shouldn't be either as looks can be deceiving in these tournament history has told us...

*cough* Diouf *cough* Diao.... *cough* ..

What a terrible mess of a post that is Keni, and in more than one way. I've bolded your sentence in the middle of it all trying to make it mildly understandable.

Firstly, Jovanovic has played half a good game and scored and easy goal at the WC. Pavlyuchenko scored 3 or 4 goals at the Euros beeing named in the squad of the tournament too.

He even played at Spartak Moscow, a far bigger team in a far stronger league than the Belgium Jupiler league and he scored almost 100 goals in 141 matches. Oh and he was only 26 at the time.

And then look how he's struggled in England? What point are you trying to make here? Had Jovanovic scored three or four goals and looked boss throughout I wouldn't mind us giving him a go but he didn't.

For whatever good reason you mave have for quoting an eight months old post of mine it doesn't change the fact that I'm impressed/scared by the fact that you've either 1) remembered/kept all my posts in the past or 2) are spending far to much time on the internet in your valiant quest for sniping at other posters.

You'd seriously rather we keep a player who's proven to be shit than replace him with an unproven player while making around 10M in the process?

Look, if someone would pay £10M for Babel we should sell him and buy someone like Arda Turan, Eljero Elia or Eden Hazard.

Would I prefer to have Babel in my squad compared to an - at highest level - completely unproven 29-year-old Serbian player from Belgium?

Absofuckinglutely.

If he comes, he's going to have to find a new nickname.

"At Standard Liège, Jovanovi? quickly became a fan favorite, scoring 14 goals in his first season and earning the nickname "the snake" for his fast movement."

Jovanovic has played more than 'half a good game'
[/quote]

He has? Fair enough then. Admittedly I didn't watched their game last night, he was good I take it?

Anyways hopefully he'll prove me wrong when/if he arrives but I'll certainly not lose any sleep should he choose Inter instead of us.
