At this rate we're going to see the world's first 1 billion pound player in about ten years.

I wonder about that. From which bottomless would the money come? Even PSG is having to resort to financial conjuring tricks to make this one happen.

Is it definitely happening ?

I think this matter is a little premature. Right now, Neymar is a Barcelona player and we'll see what happens with him," Al-Khelaifi said.

We respect all contracts signed with other clubs and players.

"To be honest, I'd rather not to talk about this matter now. I hope to do it at another time. I prefer not to give percentages, everything in its time."

More money, will be the main man, have just as much chance in Europe. I can see the reasons. But I still find it a bit weird.

Nobody goes to fucking france to make it in football.

Unless theyre african cos of visa allowances and whatever

The main reliable sources are reporting this is as good as done now. Crazy crazy money, and a backwards step on the footballing front. I presume this is going to kickstart some more crazy transfers off the back of it.

He'll sell them millions of shirt sales and other merchandise but he is making a mistake

He's a fucking idiot, yeah he'll win a load of league titles because the French league is shit and he PSG may win a champions league but other than that he will have to carry that PSG team and he's had a shit season at Barca.

None

But we're acting like there are only two players in the world that could improve us.
Agreed.
Draw up a list of the top 10 CB and DM in the world and go sign one.

Or do what I do on Fifa and put offers in for all of them and see what sticks 🙂

Oh when the bubble bursts it's gonna be very entertaining. These fees need capping sooner rather than later.
The money is almost pointless though right? Its player tokens.
Like Barca get 200 player tokens off PSG, lets say they give 100 player tokens to us for coutinho, and say another 100 to atletico for Griezman, we give 100 player tokens to RB for Keita, they give 100 tokens to Bayern for Sanches, Sanches give 100 to PsG for Veratti
Etc etc

Its all gonna be much of a muchness right? Its not real money its asset swapping.

BREAKING NEWS
Potentially a big Neymar development...
La Liga have told Sky Sports News that they will NOT accept the payment from PSG to trigger Neymar’s release clause.
They are expecting PSG to visit their offices this afternoon.
A spokesman for the office of La Liga president Javier Tebas said:
"We will not accept the money for the liberation clause, the reason is that we have doubts that this money is in accordance with UEFA Financial Fair Play rules."
Neymar's buyout clause is believed to be €220m.

Now apparently its moot as UEFA are saying the transfer has fuck all to do with La Liga but how anti competitive is a release clause of 180m anyway?

Of course you're going to have to dodge FFP to get him in..

I can't decide whether there is a bubble or not.

On one hand it seems that live sports are one of the few times people are likely to watch TV. And i wonder whether clubs make more if they bypassed TV stations and figured out how to stream and monetize their own matches ?

But illegal streams must be making a dent in Sky and BT's finances and that has to impact what they can spend on the rights in future.

Wouldn't it be more interesting if clubs had to trade players rather than sell ?

Exactly. Like some ultra competitive sport I can think of where you pretty much get a different champion every year.

I wouldn't say its moot.

You'd have to question whether La Liga are overstepping their authority (which it seems they are)
