Just been told houllier's to discuss personal terms.

No idea how reliable the source is although he does get inside info from time to time and doesn't normally make stuff up.

It's down to 10/1 now too.

Don't shoot the messenger!

Yes he will, even though his teams played the most negative dire football in his last season and a half.

It was the closest I've ever been to not watching us play, closer than watching Rafa's, and thats just to remind you how bad it was!

But I love and forgive him, for getting us Gary Mac, and starting us back on our European Adventures with the Europa Cup or EUFA or whatever it was in 01.

I can even finally forgive him, for shipping Fowler out, but only because Rafa brought him back and he could say a proper farewell, and even the signings of Diao Diouff and Diomede.

We forgive most things, except Dioff and Intanje that is, and maybe ever Macher now?

A lot of the Treble season was exciting but yeah there were some fucking dull games. That game in Barcelona was one of the most tedious I have ever seen! Mind you, we got the result we needed like we normally did around that time.

In retrospect selling Fowler was a good bit of business. Shame he fucked up replacing him big time.

Its a tough call by both them and him, as his chances of restructuring the team is gone now. He will have to keep what he has got. But then again he has his old golds Heskey and Carew, so do expect one or two hoofs from Villa the next few months.

Why though? Houllier was popular but surely Benitez was more popular? A better manager and impeccable conduct in all matters Liverpool.

I think Houiller would get a better reception than Rafa.
[/quote]

Yes, I agree. Both lost the plot however memories of how bad Ged's last season was have faded a little and he came across as more human than Rafa. Who could possibly forget the tumultous welcome back at the start of the Roma game after his surgery? Little did we know that it would all turn to shite that summer with the disastrous signings of two Senagalese lads and a Frenchman.

As Wilko said, partly because it faded away a bit after 6 years but above all because he wasnt a machiavellian tactician, he left on good terms with his hierarchy and never blamed his owner publicly.

He had little cause to, compared to the lying cunts Benitez worked under.

He has?

I don't think that there's any question Benitez left a superior dynasty, the issue is that the owners amplified the cost of very similar failure in one case, and didn't in the other. The ruin our club is in now is primarily the work of finance.

Houlier left a team that finished top 4, and a team that could compete and win the Champion League.

I think Benitez left a squad in disarray.
