I would just give it Trent now, TBH.
VVD comes across as too passive.
Alisson has all the credentials and character but I'd rather an outfield player be captain.
Robertson would be an excellent motivator, but he's a known shit house and that won't curry favour with referees.
Salah never seems to get given the arm band and referees think he's a diver.

Trent. Full stop. But, that's not the world's best choice.
Virgil.
Trent is my long term choice but not convinced he's ready just yet. Virgil has another couple years at/near the top and is part of our leadership group. Give it to him with a view to passing it onto Trent in 2-3 seasons.

I always prefer midfielders as captains but there's no good option there. Has to be Virg with Trent as vice
Voted Ali. Think he deserves it based on his consistency throughout his time here & a mix of other things such as age, experience & tenure at the club.
Can see Trent getting it for obvious reasons but think it's too soon yet.
Not sure Salah had leadership qualities and Robbo for me is too much of a dressing room joker type character.

Totally agree with this sentiment, Robbo or no one, although I honestly think we have the future Argentine captain in our team who is a world cup winner
Also kinda think this. Which plays into why I think he's the right choice. Let the long term leader, whether Trent or other, emerge this season while Virg is a caretaker.
Big Virg for now - Trent needs to focus on his own game for a season - either nailing his new role or being better at the defensive side of the game.

I think the skipper's job is to save Robbo from getting his face clobbered by the opposing side after he's taken the piss.
I suspect Virgil will get the armband but I'd give it to Robbo. I'd prefer Virgil to be concentrating on his own game, whereas Robbo's into everything on the pitch anyway. Being an acknowledged irritant to the opposition hasn't done him any harm whatsoever as captain of Scotland BTW.

On last year, less likely to make the starting 11 than Robbo. No problem with a skip that doesn't play every match, as evidenced by Hendon.
I honestly don't get it, the love on for him being captain. He's one of my favourite players but he's a poor captain. When we're playing poorly I can't see him getting a grip of the team.
Understandable question but I see a poem in the name. The minimalism of that approach is right in line with Robbo's own style, which is its own kind of poetry in motion - tw@tting Messi about the heid, chasing down four members of the opposition one after the other when gegenpressing etc.
You really believe that? I think he cares far more about personal records and getting as many photos taken of him as possible with his top off. Plus he’s too much of a calm jokey character, as a captain we need someone with grit and who’s a bit bossy.
I think it hurts him that he isn't already wearing the armband.

I voted for Salah.
I recognize he's not a greatest option but I don't think TAA is ready for it - the questions and debates need to stop first. VVD is the natural choice and will almost certainly get it but dunno, giving it someone on the wane whose attitude (to me at least) seemed a little too casual doesn't seem right either.
