I simply don't give a shit as long as the dross on the pitch continues. Was the same in '92 the first time I sat in the new Centenary Stand with my old man. Saw us draw 0-0 with Spurs and we were dogshit all game. Paul Stewart in midfield. As we came out the ground I said: "Nice new stand eh dad?". Well I guess one argument is that the new stand is being created to increase annual revenues, not just because it will look nice.

I'd be interested to know just how much we paid architects/ council planners etc for the various designs and locations we've had over the years, that in itself is probably a couple of players!

I think any modern stand is designed to be self supporting. I haven't seen one yet with pillars.

I think cantilever roof is the term you're looking for (although the new ones may be classed differently, I'm not up on architecture), & no, it won't have pillars. It's as cheap (if not cheaper) to build without front supports as it is with, & you lose money through restricted view with pillars, so it's a no brainer.

Well it looks like someone had a kick up the arse re: pitch. Taking into account the wise words of FFF and his groundsman mate, the building works will fuck up the seeding etc so I wouldn't be surprised if they're looking for a 1-2 year interim surface with a higher quality one to come in once the building works is done.

I'd expect that yeah brizzle, I've not seen him for a while but the next time I do I'll ask him!

I'd guess that'd be the case though, simply cos in that picture it doesn't look like they've pulled the entire surface up to change the pipework (otherwise the artifical turf around the edge would have been removed) so that will need servicing & renewing before a long term replacement is laid.
