Excuse me if this has been done already but as I haven't seen any figures I'll take my chances.

If the window were to close at this instant who'd be the top spenders in the League this Summer?

Anyone have access to a list over the net spend figures?

I'm not even sure about ours to be honest.

IN
Aqua, Johnson, Greekios
£38M?

OUT
Alonso, Arbeloa, a few fringe players
£30M?

Care to enlighten me?

I think it's safe to say that City's net spend will be the highest whilst Utd's will be the lowest.

With those figures in mind I think it's fair to say that we should - as a bare minimum - expect the following signings before the window shuts;

Silva; £25M

Sneijder; £10M

United are certainly running out of time if they are to spend more than what they've gained on the Ronaldo transfer.

Wheras City must be closing in on £100M?

We are balancing the teams here.

Don't worry, the signing of Silva will push our net spend up.

They must have easily surpassed that?

Tevez, Garry Barry, Adebayor, Toure, Santa Cruz, Bellers, Lescott.....i think they over paid for each one of them and by now should be nearing 150 million quids.

It does seem that Rafa has been told he can spend precisely whatever he raises from sales. It is pretty much to the penny.

The 'Keane money', was apparently eaten by the contract extensions.

Yeah. Those figures are pretty conclusive, aren't they? No Silva, no Ribery.

*sobs*

whoa, someone's in a mood today...

quite depressing this year and last year our lowest net spend in decades

and next year will be fuck all again if they're around

won't be long until the team is going backwards but Rafa will get the blame and hung out to dry by dickheads in the media

It's the truth i promise =D

Interesting facts and figures.

It's quite clear that, other than the first year they arrive,d Hicks and Gillet are simply not willing to invest in either a stadium or the team. They're simply sitting on their investment hoping it will reap rewards due to it's brand - when they do eventually come to sell up (if only). Whatever the reasoning behind (lack of money, lack of interest) the reality is their inaction and lack of investment will start to devalue the 'brand' soon anyway .

This is a season where we could have really kicked on - I truly believed that but our lack of action in the transfer market makes me believe it will be another false dawn. We will compete that's for sure but we're about two or three class players away from that title still in my view.

Our spending this year is over . Our first team has improved but our squad has dropped in overall quality and that makes me think, without immense luck with injuries, we do not have the in-depth quality to win the league again .We will not progress under the Yanks.

So basically in THE summer we needed to kick-on we've basically turned a profit!?

Awful. H & G are killing us.
[/quote]

A profit of 150k a week of gerrard's wages and masch's wages (if rumours are to be believed) hardly a profit is it. It needs to be at least a million quid to be a notable profit if not a damn sight more. Self funded is more realistic than turning in a profit!!!

Plus 16m for keane and 750k (rumoured) for Hobbs.

12m possibly rising to 16m for Keane according to the accounts.

All in all if you look at the net spend for the last two years it's not a great deal.

strangest summer ever for transfers - City and Spurs appear to have pushed on, everyone else status quo. Real Madrid spend biggest after they were well and truly humped by us.

I wonder how much worse things will get before they improve ?

However surely there is a problem with that train of thought. Johnson was bought well before Xabi was even anywhere near confirmed as sold, and certainly before the fee got anywhere above 20M and with Rafa having already identified Aquilani as his replacement then surely that means they expected a net spend over 10M ?

So maybe there is still something left in the tank. We'll know for sure in a week's time.

I don't think there's going to be another summer signing. I think Rafa's willing to gamble the season on having one decent striker on the books.

Well at least we're getting a brand new stadium.... Or at least we're get an artist impression of what a new stadium may look like.

If there really isn't any more cash then I don't think it's a case of 'Rafa is willing to gamble ....' anything, he'd love another striker but Xabi had to be replaced first and Johnson was already done & dusted.
