Napoli reject Pool's Lavezzi bid (allegedly)

We need a proper Cunt in our team. Gerrard, Alonso and Carra are not capable of Ronaldo, Drogba or Henry's/ Pires's level of "cuntishness"......may be we should get this lad?

* even Fabergas is quite the cunt...

Binny, have you been away?? Cheers for the info as per anyway 😉

Mark, I've still been lurking around, enjoying everyone's posts, esp. those of the 'old guards' like you, FFF, Brendan, LTW, Vlads Quiff and keniget. ;D

His agent, Alejandro Mazzoni, said: "The offer from Liverpool was genuine, and came with a £2.5 million yearly salary." Aurelio De Laurentiis, the Napoli president, insists Lavezzi "is not for sale, unless an offer too good to refuse arrives."

Hmmm... that's about £52k per wk... :🙂

before kuyt came, he was like scoring for fun too in holland.

so this is no big deal is it?

More 'confirmation'.

Ezequiel Lavezzi’s representative hints Liverpool “offered to triple his wages,†but Pocho won’t force Napoli into letting him go.

It was reported this week that the club had turned down a £22m bid for the Argentine and manager Eduardo Rossetto conceded there was some truth in it.

“Napoli own the player’s contract and therefore the final word is down to the club. All we can do is wait,†said the representative.

“Are we waiting for Liverpool? You are the one who says that. All I can confirm is that there has been an important offer, superior to £19m, which [President Aurelio] De Laurentiis considered insufficient.â€

Lavezzi is a hero to the Napoli fans and any decision to sell him would not be taken lightly, even though he won’t be in Europe with them next season.

“It all depends on Napoli. For example, if I have a sports utility vehicle in my garage then I don’t spend much money on its upkeep.

“However, if I own a limited edition vehicle then I have to take good care of it, polish regularly and basically spend more. Understood?â€

If the Liverpool bid has been rejected, then it has only served to bump up Lavezzi’s wage requirements.

“Without going into detail, I will say the offer was to triple his current wages,†continued Rossetto.

“An agent has come to us with this offer, which is impressive and solid. We are not going to sit here and speculate on the situation. Napoli willdecide and then let us know.â€

It shows we're on the right lines though even if it doesnt come off.

A £22m bid shows our ambition and that we mean business. Shame those dickheads cant shut up though - bloody amateurs

after seeing that terrible youtube compilation of him imbedded earlier by me I have gone off him - let's hope it is inaccurate

What dicheads? Napoli? Why are they amateurs?
We make a bid and they reject it. I'd prefer it if these things were kept behind closed doors.

Why go public about something they've rejected other than to alert other clubs with the intention of starting a bidding war. Plus, it lets our rivals know who we're trying to sign.

Poor form by Napoli if you ask me.

So by publicising the fac,t they will start a bidding war and get more money. Just because it doesn't fit in with our plans doesn't make them amateurs.

Course it does...

Look it was a throwaway comment to express my distaste for their behaviour!! I dont REALLY think they're amateurs. I'm sure they're an expertly run organisation with fine, long-established traditions, not unlike the Mafia.

"Behind closed doors"?

Because we've been the epitome of that in recent years....

Yes, I really would expect everyone else to act with our dignity, you're right.

At first I was surprised by this news, but on second thought, I believe the link is real and feasible. First of all, La Gazzetta is the most credible sports newspaper in Italy, they are not like Tuttosport, who routinely manufacture bullshit transfer rumours to keep readers interested. But most importantly, I can see how this lad ticks all the right boxes for Rafa:

*physically strong
*hard-working
*energetic
*skillful
*potentially can be developed into a versatile player who can cover different positions
*Spanish-speaking
*relatively young, so Rafa can get credit for molding him into a big player
*lesser known, younger and cheaper than his alternative in Tevez, while not any less talented

In general, the types of players we are being linked with so far (Lavezzi, Silva, Tevez, Lennon, Kuba, Suarez) lead me to believe that Rafa is seriously in the market for a creative and versatile player who can play second striker, on the wing or somewhere in between. Most likely, Babel is gone - Rafa doesn't tolerate lackadaisical attitude. I'm sure Rafa, just like any other manager, would put Ribery at the top or very near the top of his most wanted list for attacking midfielders, but considering the price, interest of wealthiest clubs and the fact that we wouldn't be the player's first choice (probably not even in top 3 or top 5, considering our lack of French diaspora in the team), it would be a long shot. My hunch is that Ribery will end up in Madrid, while Rafa is going to choose between Lavezzi and Suarez as his biggest purchase of the summer, while keeping an eye on the Tevez and Silva situations just in case. I can see Rafa buying someone cheaper, like Kuba, if his top targets fall though and he decides to invest more in an out-and-out striker.

I want to say one more thing about age. I noticed a trend that when it comes to buying players for building spine of the team, Rafa prefers and typically has the most success with players around 22-24 years old. Wenger's comfort zone is under 20, Ancelotti's is over 30. Rafa's is 22-24. Xabi Alonso, Torres, Masher, Agger, Skrtel, Reina, Arbeloa and Crouch were all in this age group, Kuyt and Garcia just a year or two older. That's another reason why, I think, Lavezzi or Suarez sound more like a typical Rafa purchase to me, rather than Tevez, Ribery or whoever.

Any news on what's going to happen with Voronin?
He is certainly leaving Hertha, other than that it's hard to say at this point. The player and his agent keep claiming that Liverpool is not against taking him back, on the other hand Rafa's comment that "we'll try to sell players who are on loan" might be aimed at Voronin as well. IMO, the most likely outcome is Voronin moving to another team in Bundesliga or perhaps in France.

NEWS: Lavezzi-Liverpool almost done!

NAPLES - Ezequiel Lavezzi seems ever more distant from Naples and ever closer to Liverpool. According to indiscretions dell'ultim'ora believe that Liverpool has a super offer ready to go deliver a Pierpaolo Marino and President De Laurentis in the next few hours for the Argentine. The offer of reds include a substantial amount of money at around 20 million plus the tag of the quarterback left Andrea Dossena. Hardly the Napoli will have the strength to say no to a similar offer.

Bad news. We'd be lost without a decent quarterback in the squad.

i imagine so. it's an italian paper.

This actually looks likely to happen, doesn't it. Which means we've been using Tevez as a SMOKESCREEN. Or this is the SMOKESCREEN for the Tevez deal.
