Why when we finished 2nd, did we then go on and sell more players bringing in more money than we spent for TWO windows? I doubt very much it was Rafa's plan.

The time we should have built, we stopped in our tracks and now look at us.

Oh come on, that's the not the whole story, is it?

*Rafa messed about with Alonso which was hugely significant in Xabi's eventual departure.

* He spent £20m on Keane, £20m on Aquilani, £18m on Johnson, £9m on Riera, £3m on another shit keeper and £7m on a fat Italian


When did we bring in more than we spent?

The second window we did, we more or less broke even, though he still invested £40m on two players (regardless of the balance of the books, the £40m was there to be spent how HE wanted). Both signings were more than questionable - a midfielder who's back home now after spending half his season here injured, and a right back who can't defend.

The first season he bought Robbie Keane, Dosenna and Riera and that dodgy keeper. Shite.

The one reason i want Torres to stay is that i know he *can* play, and consistently too. Under a new manager, i see no reason why he wouldn't thrive, whereas Eggnog or Babel are just pretty shit and haven't a cat's chance in hell of ever making it here.

I suggested we sell Nando the summer before last and again in the summer just gone because i dont think we can afford ONE injury prone marquee striker.
However, this season (perhaps the Bruckner effect) he has seemed all but cured of those every other week niggles. So with that in mind i would never want to sell him.
If hes fit as he now seems to be id keep him forever.
