My expectations were not that high anyway - Woy

Re: My expectations were not that high anyway - Roy

Neil's point was more specific than that though, namely that our players are good enough to play with more ambition. I think he's right.

Re: My expectations were not that high anyway - Roy

Oh yeah I agree with that. I remember Reading dicked us last year with a bunch of utter cack simply by abandoning caution.

roy hodsgon

“All the things I’ve always liked are the things Liverpool were famous for in their heyday. Pass and move, always move it quickly and once you lose it get back in to position. That was the mantra which took Liverpool through their great years. I like a high-tempo passing game. I like players to work hard, I like players to get back in position. Those are my principles.''

practice what you preach, roy...

Re: My expectations were not that high anyway - Roy

I dread to think what Roy's expectations for next weekend are.

At least with Rafa I had some confidence going into these big games.

Re: My expectations were not that high anyway - Roy

He'll probably chirp on about whatever he's been told to say to the media.

'Too big a squad'
'Expectations too high'
'We're not really very good'
'My great friend Sir Alex is a footballing legend'
'My away record is fucking risible and I am a joke of an appointment'

The usual, chest-beating, positive, we are Liverpool, win at all costs type of stuff

Re: My expectations were not that high anyway - Roy

roy should have told all the liverpool fans who travelled from all over the country and forked out hundred of pounds that he didn't expect to win and given them (the fans) the choice of whether or not to waste their afternoon or not.

Re: My expectations were not that high anyway - Roy

He's already doing all the things that Rafa done that pissed us off. Moaning about the owners, lack of money blah blah, crap team selections, poor subs.

He's Rafa minus the odd moments of 'tactical genius'.

Re: My expectations were not that high anyway - Roy

I said it before he was even appointed, the budgie-faced OAP is the least inspiring LFC managerial appointment in 50 years

Re: My expectations were not that high anyway - Roy

On the moaning about the owners thing, I don't really think he's done that.

He's given a fairly frank and blatantly obvious assessment of the situation we are in. A situation exemplified by the fact that he's even here to make the assessment in the first place.

I'm not sure quite what he is supposed to say.

Re: My expectations were not that high anyway - Roy

To be honest, I thought we'd get beat & I told everyone I know.

Amen

Re: My expectations were not that high anyway - Roy

he's clearly a shambolic appointment and come xmas it'll be plain to see for even the most devout of blindly backing the team supporters.

to hodgson simply being our manager is the highlight of his career. it doesn't matter what he does with us once he got here.

with the players we have available our team and formation picks itself but even then he's got it wrong repeatedly.

The people moaning about his supposed snipes at the board are the same ones who were fucking moaning that he was a yes man who would play along with the whole crap situation and not try to put pressure on the owners.

He hasn't exactly moaned has he? He's said it like it is, and we've only played four fucking games.

Indeed.

I thought we might see some abuse after one season, but not 2 months. It's pretty poor, TBH.

How many times did Benitez beat Birmingham away from home?

Re: My expectations were not that high anyway - Roy

Does he know he's not managing Fulham now?

Has someone told him?

Re: My expectations were not that high anyway - Roy

Yes, he thinks he's managing Fulham.

Good one.

Re: My expectations were not that high anyway - Roy

Well I'm glad your happy that we was outplayed outfought and outsmarted by Birmingham, if it wasn't for pepe, it would have been another man city.

The first save the Birmingham keeper had to make was in the 56th Minute wasn't it?

Re: My expectations were not that high anyway - Roy

I was never enthusiastic about Hodgson, though it's pointless saying we needed to go back. Something needed to change.

But the fact that I had zero hope for this season was not primarily motivated by Hodgson's appointment. The type of posters jumping to be the loudest, most obnoxious hater of Hodgson is enough to make me a supporter.
I agree. He isnt really the problem. He wants to sort that poul/cas shite out though.

Re: My expectations were not that high anyway - Roy

The poulsen signing really disturbed me. It's really sad to have watched our midfield destroyed year after year after year.

Let's just hope Meireles does well, stays healthy, and Hodgson isn't afflicted by macular degeneration, because the solutions, as limited as they are, are right in front of him.

Re: My expectations were not that high anyway - Roy

Everytime I think of Uncle Woy, I find myself in a time machine traveling back to the 90s and then some random Blackburn fan asks me this question in the pub, "Hey, wanna swap your Woy with our Woy ?". And I'll reply him with, "You're bottom of the table". And then I'll break into laughter in his face.

Then I'll be teleported into the future, the present day and find myself crying minutes later when I realize karma has hit me full circle.

To be fair, I can't remember the last time we beat Brum. I can Manure, Madrid, Barca etc. Not Brum. However... Roy.... shut the fuck up. It doesn't help.
A fair point. I always approach Brum away as one of our (many!) bogey games. We should be beating them there, but can anyone remember the last time we did win in the league there? I think it was under Ged? A 3-1 win springs to mind.

Re: My expectations were not that high anyway - Roy

regardless of how poorly we've doing against brum that is no reason to go there and play for a point. if we go there and play for a win but get a draw that's life but to actually play for a point is cowardly.

Re: My expectations were not that high anyway - Roy

3-0, wasn't it? One of our last games that season. Heskey scored, then we sold him to them in the summer.
