I'd say Sakho, Toure and Ming. Suarez was in the January. I think there is a very clear strategy.

Ming, agreed. Suarez was bought just as Kenny took charge and before we spent on Carroll, Henderson, Downing etc.

Toure agreed - not sure about Sakho (yet) although the signs are good. But we spent £18m on him. So does that fit with the Coutinho/Sturridge sort of deals?

Massive over-reaction to us not willing to pay more than we think the player's worth. Win some, lose some. It's not like we've missed out on Messi FFS. He's average IMO and will not improve them. Not sure he would have improved us either. How about we wait till the end of the transfer window to decide if we're all going to attack the owners and Ayre with bricks.

We valued him at £8 and Chelsea, because people know they have the cash, have blown us out of the water with a bid for double our valuation. Weeks ago there was talk that Basle wouldn't agree to letting him go until a replacement was lined up, holding out until now is good business by them because they're getting the best deal available to them and can now go out and spend. People can bang on about us being amateurs, we lost out in the Summer to two (currently) better positioned clubs who can offer European Football and both of whom are in the capital. We've lost out on this guy because we've been priced out of a move by one of the richest clubs in World football. Shit happens, like I said, most people have barely seen him play, but like the Summer people are getting all up in arms because we haven't blown a wad on some youtube great.

We paid £18m for Sakho, I don't remember many people congratulating Ayre, or the owners or Rodgers on that.

Double our valuation...he's going to Chelsea for £11m??

If we could only sign one player and missing out on this twat frees up money for a DM then I'm all for it. However, we won't sign anybody.

I always knew that once we get to the core issues of the Israeli - Palestinian conflict, people like you will see the light! ... 😉

He's a fucking little provocator - he came to Tel Aviv (after having said he'd not play against an Israeli team), refused to shake hands with the Israeli players, and made gestures to the crowd. I'm glad we've missed on him, and I hope he rotes on the Chelsea bench, and even better - I hope Abramovic make him eat Matza in Passover...

Matza is bearable in small doses but I've tried Passover wine and that stuff is gut rot.

This is frustrating because of how long it took for us to deal with. If we wanted him, we should've gotten him pronto. If he was merely one for the future, then focus on more important positions. The way things are looking now, we're simply fucked. Even Everton have Traore coming in for them this window. Think we can get anyone else the next 9 days? Well it took us ages to get anything done with regards to Salah. Something's wrong or Henry simply just doesn't give enough fucks about bankrolling us for immediate improvement.

An 11M fee ha been agreed according to the Beeb.
I reckon we were offering close to that but Chelsea are more attractive proposition for him.

Ming, agreed. Suarez was bought just as Kenny took charge and before we spent on Carroll, Henderson, Downing etc.

Age and/or value for money. I don't think they have to be in the 8-10m bracket 😀

Ah well. He may turn out to be great, but until that happens I'm not that bothered as I don't know anything about him.

What's clear however is that we wanted him and by the sounds of things could've had the deal sewn up before Chelsea had the chance to get involved. I guess they decided to take a risk and try and get a few million knocked off or whatever and this time it backfired.

I wonder how Rodgers feels about this.

The window has been open 23days and in that time we've come close to signing no one, even though we're really short in a few areas. And then Chelsea waltz over to basel and tie up salah in about 24hours, although they're not short in any areas.

When you've got a billionaire owner and an unlimited chequebook, I guess this is what you can do, money talks. We probably couldn't justify spending 11mill on him, whereas chelsea could spend 100mill on him if they fancied.

It's a game of the have's and the have not's.

Right then chaps, less of the hypocrisy over Chelsea buying a player wanted by rivals only to have them sit on the bench or rot in the reserves. We've clearly been doing it ourselves, with Aspas and Alberto...

I'll say it again.
Shaqiri or Griezmann.
Or at a pinch Miralem Pjanic.

Not fucking Momo Salah the fucking no mark wab.

At the end of the day he shouldve brought through Aspas and Alberto more this season....

Thats Rodgers and the transfer commitees fault if they are not good enough to help us challenge this year. Thats a waste of 14 million.

The Chelsea statement leaves the door open if we want to, I'm assuming we don't.

Basle have agreed to sell for a certain price, now it's up to Salah to agree to go. If we match the price I assume Salah would need to choose.

However it ends up I'm more concerned about midfield and left back

One major target this January and we're still incapable of getting the deal done. Seriously, what the fuck goes on behind the scenes at LFC??

Reminds me of the Malouda deal - wasn't arsed when then went sour either

Its not the missing out on Salah that annoys me its the way we do our transfer dealings.
The strategy has obvious flaws and I dont think Ayre is the right man to be leading these negotiations.

If we wanted Salah, why go in with a ridiculously low offer and spend 23 days fucking about.
My biggest worry is that we sign no one and top 4 goes fuck off.

Johnson and Allen are injured. We need a full back and a midfielder. We're in the top 4 now and have a great chance of making it IF we adress those areas. It looks like we wont and quelle surprise we'll finish 6th and moan about not investing in January.
