Mo Salah- he's world class

Brendan was talking about Salah’s astonishing debut. And I made a crappy half hearted lazy reference to Berger’s debut too. Not their playing styles which are SO obviously different.

There's a few posts on here suggesting he's not.

I reckon he'd walk into the starting eleven of at least a dozen of whoever ends up being in the last sixteen of the CL. If that ain't world class I'm not cooking your dinner or giving you a wank because your standards are the issue, not the product
Do you give Champions League standards wanks?

I don't think the comparison was intended to be as comprehensive as that. I thought it was a reference to a new signing having a very good first season.

I still don't get the comparison. Berger had a great debut game and then was typically up and down. He scored 9 goals in total that season, which was a career best that he matched twice for us. I was a fan, but it's not nearly in the same league as what Salah has produced.

This immediately made me think about what a wank from Klopp would be like - there's no gentle build up, just full on top speed geggen pressing. While you may blow your load really quickly, you will surely end up with a bruised, sore lad.

Just saying ...

I liked Berger. I remember that goal against Derby, must have been around 20 passes.

And if you don't blow your load quickly he won't know how to change tactics so you'll just end up a with a bruised lad and blue balls.

What about up top!?!?

And...

Lets not get ahead of ourselves guys - not even half a season yet - what is to say if the goals he has scored are the only ones this season ? - I agree with @Kay Age El view of what 'World Class' is. You have to consistently do that 'thing' for a number of seasons, with the hope you can win something significant before being crowned 'world class'. Very view players have done that 'thing' other than Suarez in the Ronaldo/Messi era.

So there are only 3 world class players? Jesus wept.

What's with this obsession with the "world class" label anyway?
These endless debates about who belongs in some made up category and who doesn't always seemed a bit weird to me.

It’s like when Loki arrogantly proclaims ‘I am a god, you dull creature. Bow before me!’ only to have Hulk hilariously smash him into smithereens and crush his ego with a ‘puny god’ retort.

In the end titles are nothing but man-made labels to fill someone’s boredom and pretty irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.

The other one that gets me is the use of the word 'form'. When Rooney scores a goal it's because he's amazing, and has always been amazing. ROOOOOOOONNNNNEEEEEEEYYYYYYY!!!!!
When Salah or similar does it it's because 'he's in red hot form.'
Load off fucking bollocks.

Does this mean Rooney is 'world class' and Salah 'in form'?

I would suggest that if Salah played for the scum, citeh or Chavs he would be labelled world class in the media narrative. For us he just in form.

He's scoring all sorts of goals, defenders already have the fear when he gets the ball, allowing him to exploit them further.

He's not as good as Suarez in terms of sheer brilliance, but he's proving as effective. Based on what I've seen this season he comfortably ticks the world-class box for me.

And 7 in his 1st 3 games.

It was certainly a rapid start

And then you'd get bummed almost immediately

I think someone else said it, yesterday was the first game where you forgot Suarez played for us.
Salah wasn't just hit and run but close control too. He had on occasions 4 players round him and still managed to dribble the ball past all 4 and find an incisive pass.
