Midfielders other than Bellingham

Every midfielder we are going to target is going to cost atleast 50 million. Every club knows how desperate we are. Brighton rejected 80 million for Caicedo in January. Why would they accept 40 million from us?
Jan is mid-season with a 100% tax for teams that are desperate.

He/Mac Allister. We should get the cheaper of the 2. If not, get the next player from South America that Brighton will no doubt replace these 2 with.

So if he transfers to any other club before that clause is effectively wiped out isn’t it? Probably a silly question.

Yes, but why would Southampton sell for less than the clause a year early.

I guess maybe if they need cash after relegation - but would have thought he wouldn’t be among the highest earners and they’d want to shift other players first.

Also probably depends on how likely City are to exercise their clause.

Judging by what he said a few days ago, Guardiola is a big fan of Lavia - sounds like they’re planning to exercise the buy-back clause next summer, but of course the looming FFP punishment can change a lot of things…

This article also mentions that Chelsea had a £40M bid for him knocked back in the summer.

Kone and Thuram are available for around £30m..
Here's another guy. The profile of signing we need. Tall, athletic, can tackle, can move etc
Amadou Haidara.
If @King Binny is kind enough to do his stat breakdown. @binomial
At a guess you're looking at €40m

I think its a very big chance that we try to sign him this summer. Surely Soton are a shoe in for relegation and selling Lavia will probably be part of a rebuild for them.

At least €60M for Thuram now…

Haidara is a bit too similar to Naby - I would pass on this for now. We need a more defensive profile anyway.

I really doubt any player on earth tells Manchester City "No thank, I don't want to play for a plastic club".

Have you seen the clip of Lineker and Shearer talking to Micah Richards? City were offering him £100k/week way back when. Imagine what they’d offer players now even if it’s off the books. That dough would remove any doubt about plastic.

On the other hand they will definitelty accept any offer higher than 50 million, since they will almost certainly lose him for 40 million in 2024.

Bellingham's dad alone will get 400,000 a week to polish Pep's forehead.

At Liverpool we'd force dad to fill in at right back as a freebie

Klopp did say people will be disappointed with the signings, so I am not expecting much.
Klopp/Pep's record on transfers has been very good, other than Naby, Karius, Melo and Ox (Ox has given plenty of clutch moments).
I wonder why including me, we have lost faith in Klopp to get the right players?

Because he follows shrill reactions on social media?
Well he's clearly following it from somewhere despite his constant dismissive remarks towards social media.

& the reaction on social media isn't anything crazy, not like he's put it anyway.....no one anywhere has called for "6x 100m signings" as he referred to in his presser.

Why couldn’t he sprinkle his words with a bit of hyperbole? He did say, “… for example…”, though, almost as if he’s telling the press and media they bear some responsibility for the wild figures they’re constantly quoting.

Perhaps but why only now when it's never really affected us before? Unless this time it really is only to do with Jude and Klopp's showing off his frustration by way of overused exaggeration.

He really could've just stopped at "Nothing more to say on the kid"

Jürgen Klopp will hope to invest in the transfer market to replenish his ageing midfield. Who should Liverpool buy?
By Ben McAleer for WhoScored

Orkun Kokcu, Feyenoord

Borussia Dortmund reportedly scouted Turkish youngster Orkun Kokcu earlier this season as a potential replacement for Bellingham. Liverpool could do a lot worse than cut out the middleman and sign the 22-year-old directly from Feyenoord.
Following their 3-2 win at Ajax on Sunday, Feyenoord sit six points clear at the top of the Eredivisie. Kokcu has been a key cog in the midfield for Arne Slot’s side in their bid to secure their first league title in six years. He is a creative presence, ranking third for passes per game (72.3) and second for key passes per game (2.9) in the Dutch top tier this season. He does not have as many attributes as Bellingham, but would give Klopp a different option in the middle of the park.

Jacob Ramsey just scored for Villa, arriving late in the box and smashing a knockdown home.

I know he wouldn't be cheap but everytime I see him he's impacting play.

Then minutes later he's missed a sitter from 10 yards by hitting the bar....he reminds me a bit of Ross Barkley back in the day.

Pointless going for him when we have both Jones and Harvey at the club still developing.
