Midfielders other than Bellingham

Under the shitshow of lampard the first time round, mount had great numbers from a combination of wide, midfield and central.

The lads got the application and the workrate, and that's half the battle to succeed in this system.

He in no way is flash, and in no way is worth 70m....but for 40 with a year left he would be more than adequate

The upper echelons think of themselves as utter geniuses. If you think they are intent on 'addressing' any mistakes I've got a bridge to sell you.
Given that we ran that oil-funded “behemoth” down the East Lancs road close in 4 of the last 5 seasons, winning a champions league and a premier league title in the process, I’d say not shabby at all.

"what we saw from gini before we signed him from Newcastle"

I'm not saying Gini wasn't a great player for us - losing him was the start of our deterioration in midfield - but I think Klopp made him an even better player.
Could he not do the same with either player so they could have a nice compilation too ?

Cant coach people technical ability and control. Not to the level Gini possesses.

I mean if we’re so desperate and we dont value any other proper midfielder out there then sure….but why not just wait till next summer? Highly doubt City or any other top club in Europe will be after him.

he absolutely could. Which is why I’m not fussed about not getting Jude. Especially with our injury record with many a player. I’d hate to sink that much money into a player to then see him out for half a season erc

I think you're selling Mount waaaaaay short here but I doubt we will be signing him anyway ... so mute discussion! 🙂

I like Mount. I think he is going to be overpriced but still will be an effective signing. But if he is the main course we are in trouble. Given that our attack is not as effective as early Mane, Salah, Firmino, we will need a bit of gold dust in our midfield. I am not saying we have to spend 120 million or something. Newcastle got Bruno for less than 40 million.

So Mount + gold dust midfielder + an effective DM not named Rice will be a good starting point. If the next phase of LFC rebuilding is based on Mount and Gallagher, we are in trouble.

I dunno. Rumours Bayern want him as tuchel loved him as well. If klopp and tuchel rate you highly, surely there's something about you the general populace don't see

The likes of Mount and MacAllister are pretty unimaginative chequebook signings.

That's fine if you've got money but do we? If we sign a couple of midfielders from that kind of list, it'll be the best part of 200M.

Feels like a Comolli era signing rather than an Edwards era signing.

That Lavia lad is a very Klopp like player. Could he play in the DM role for us?
Do you mean the kid who plays for Southampton, Romeo Lavia? Southampton purchased him for £12m so would want a profit, so you're probably looking at £25m at least
Kone/Kephram Thuram are available for €35m-ish
Xavi Simons would be a brilliant buy at €35 there are ton of options out there

I wonder if Real would let Touchameni go for 70m (to help fund their Bellingham purchase).

Touchameni 70m + Caicedo/Mac Allister 40m + Lavia 20m puts us in a better position than Bellingham alone at 130m.

If we can't afford Bellingham I don't see how we can afford Rice, West Ham aren't going to give him away, they'll be asking stupid money.

I like Mount but I wouldn't be paying £70M with 12 months on his contract. I wouldn't be paying £70M with 10 years left on his contract.

If Madrid chase Bellingham, surely they can be tempted with bids for either of their French lads, they can't play them all.

The Wolves midfielder is a good player, as is the Fulham one. But there must be some mustard cunt playing in France that we can unearth.

Every midfielder we are going to target is going to cost atleast 50 million. Every club knows how desperate we are. Brighton rejected 80 million for Caicedo in January. Why would they accept 40 million from us?
