About time imho..

Injuries have taken his toll over the years with this chap..

He can concentrate on his 1st love, his horses now..

Fine player at his peak, did a lot for us, performances at Real deserved a fairer shake than they gave him BUT blotted his copybook big-style with his small-minded digs at LFC after he signed for the Mancs when we didn't take him up on his "come and get me" schtick. I don't wish him ill, but then I don't wish him anything. Means nothing to me any more.

Amen to that, but you can bet the DVD's on its way around the broadcasting organisations as we speak.

Mind you, if they've any sense that'll persuade them to steer clear of him.

It will be a more boring version of this:

That video is epic compared to what those two would produce, it had a dog and when that baby made the clucking noise... Owen could only dream of those levels of personality and likability.

Good luck to him. Fantastic striker for us, if only he had stayed he would have been the PLs top scorer ever and England's highest ever scorer and won over 100 caps.

Achieved a lot but could of had more.

Just read that he never got 20 league goals in a season once in a career ... that surely can't be right?

Correct, I think he nearly did it a few times but never got it.
But don't forget, that's all our fault for over-playing him.

I think the piles and splinters he gets from sitting on the bench week in week out has finally taken its toll..

He was brilliant for us and won us some trophies, he also carried us for quite a few years before Gerrard took over that mantle.

He never really understood the heart of the club, but then the fans had Robbie so didn't really care for or fully appreciate the lad from Chester. Six of one, half a dozen of the other.

Good luck Owen and thanks for the memories.
