The Mancs are coasting far ahead in terms of titles, LFC is falling freely out of the top set of clubs in terms of status, money, power and prestige, and yet still people ponder how many seasons to give someone, as a kind of gift of faith, as if they're millionaires deliberating how many spare notes to slip into a Big Issue holder's pocket. We just don't have that luxury. We don't have that time. We don't have that right. At heart there's an arrogance that says, 'This is LFC and therefore no matter how much we stand by and let the mistakes stack up we'll still come back soon and reclaim our old position'. Well, we won't. That kind of conceit takes you to where Notts Forest are, where Leeds are, where Villa are going to. It's not a time for faith, it's a time for urgency, humility and cool-headed decisiveness.
