See, I don't get this. I just hate him. I'd much rather there were fewer things to get wound up about in football; I'd rather there weren't so many things eroding my enjoyment of it. Fifa, Sky's coverage, hysterical fans, abysmal refereeing, former players as pundits - there are already plenty of things in football that detract from the basic enjoyment of the game itself. I would have no problem whatsoever if another, in Mourinho, was removed from orbit.

The 'industry' is trying to create stories & events around the match, they couldn't give two fucks about the football unless it adds to their narrative.

Sky have convinced too many that football is about entertainment. It's not. Entertainment is secondary to the fact that football is a sport.
But Sky have to convince as they lavish billions of pounds to these sports.
In some respects, I don't care how we win (save cheating), as long as we win. If we entertain then that's good for our fans. But we are not here to entertain the masses. That's just what Sky and the others want you to believe.

I'm a bit more ambivalent.
When I watch my kids play football for their teams it's all about sport and their development. I want them to do well, improve and enjoy taking pride in their efforts.
When I watch Liverpool, although I want us to win with every fibre of my being, I also want to be entertained.
So much this. I find myself muttering almost everytime these days when that happens (or when they pan to the fans / owners in the stands): "Fuck off, I don't wanna look at that old wrinkly shitface... play is on - show me the game you fucking dick heads!".

Agreed. I'd have happily taken grinding out 1-0 victories under Ged or Rafa if it meant we had a title in the bag. I bet Arsenal fans would happily go back to George Graham's longball shite from their current pathetic posturing if it meant regular titles too. Yeah, but the massive flaw in this is that, over about 9/10 years, neither Rafa or Ged succeeded in winning the title between them, so banging on about grinding out wins is neither here nor there, we got closer to winning the title last year, than we did with either of them.
*I don't mean that arsey, but people talk about Rafa's school of thought as though it was a resounding success, it worked on some stages but not on others. We'll probably be able to say the same of Rodgers, but there's more attack minded teams who have sustained success, than the more pragmatic ones.

Who gives a fuck really. Under Rafa we played some games where we only attacked with the aim of relieving pressure from the defence. We were playing against sides with better players & resources & had no choice, but regardless, those wins were still sweet as fuck.
Winning. That's what matters, the manner doesn't. Anyone who thinks otherwise needs to revisit their Liverpool history. And that of most successful sides.
Whilst many successful sides have games in which they canter to a win & demolish teams, they have many more where they grind out results. Those games build confidence & that makes the odd incredible performance more likely.
Right now we remind me of a spurs side under Redknapp or an Arsenal side of the last few years, loads of tippy tippy build up, the odd blistering foray forwards, plenty of half chances but very few solid gift edged chances that should be converted.

I agree with everything there FFF until the last paragraph. In the two games against Chelsea alone we had 6/7 clear cut chances that SHOULD have been converted.
