This is related to that Koulibaly assault on the final whistle, right???

I think we might see Henderson at CB at some point.
It will be Lovren and Fabinho. Not sure why people are confused on this 😀

Gomez is back in January so we should be OK for the CL Last 16 (since VvD is suspended for the first leg, which will be at home so maybe not as much of a miss as the away leg).

Just read up on this. So now I've changed my mind - we should sign Raphael Varane.

Then, come May, he can pick up his CL winners medal for us and then go back up & collect his runners up medal for Madrid

Even Transfermarkt.com has his value at £100m and they normally under value players.

Will have to beat them in the next round first

He's been shit this season. All over the place.

In terms of the mid-term future, we need to sign Lloyd Kelly. He's at Bristol City, he's quick, a good passer, and like Gomez he can play at CB (his best position) or on either flank. There's a Lawrenson-style look about him, and he's at an ideal age to come here and learn from the likes of VVD. We really ought to snap him up while we can.

In terms of the next few weeks, apart from Lovren, we do have, as has been said, Nat Phillips. He's 21 now, he's no callow kid; in games against mid or low table clubs he'd be pretty trustworthy. How he'd cope, here and now, against a City or an Arsenal is simply not something we can know until we see him in action in such a game. But even he currently has a minor knock! After him, we've got the dubious makeshifts of either Fabino or Winnie (who played there last season). After that there's Conor Masterson - a year younger than Phillips, he's a sound lad from Kildare, actually a bit more expressive and attack-minded defender than Nat, but maybe not as aggressive so far. He was on the bench last season against City in the CL, so he's no stranger to the big game atmosphere, and again I wouldn't be overly nervous if he came in for a game if we were down to the reserves.

I'm not sure I'd want us to sign any senior player in January unless he was a short-term option. With Gomez, and hopefully Kelly, along with Phillips and Masterson, we've got some young and very promising CBs coming up and I hope we nurture them.

Do you not see a Steven Caulker type option coming in January, just as a stop gap in case Gomez &/or Matip take longer than expected to recover?

I wonder if there are any CBs available on a free/ on the cheap we might consider.

Reckon Kelly can be better than Moreno at least? Sign him up if so

Honestly, I think we've been really lucky with injuries under Klopp. This is way under par for the course.

Saw Kelly for Bristol City against Birmingham recently, and he impressed me. Got a yellow for a very dangerous challenge, but held his own against very physical Birmingham players. I like the fact that he's fast and agile, comfortable on the ball and is 6"3.
Sign him, let him play left back and then move in to CB when he's a bit older.

The kid is 5'10
