I just think he's been great since he came back from injury. He just slots right in, like he's never been gone. I get the feeling that he's somewhat underrated on this board, people here calling him 50p head etc.
We also haven't heard any complaints regarding playing time unlike some other players.
Top professional, top player. Lucky to have him in the squad.

I personally rate him as our second best defender.

Brendan was anti Fabinho at first because he didn't hit the ground running.
I kinda like the forum as it is now. I'm quite embarrassed about the days when it was about who was right or wrong about players. Took me a while to get it. Maybe supporting an underachieving team does that to some.

Henderson in the 6 position, neither one of us were a fan of. Probably because he was playing in that position, initially, like he was an Alonso/Gerrard type.

Funny how that's changed, and even in the 6 position, he's very good. Plays a high energy game still. And his technique, decision making and passing has improved.

Apart from his defensive ability, able to play the cross field moon rakers and massive threat in the opposition box too. With our team, being just a good defender is not enough.

I think Henderson has Klopp to thank for a lot of his development the last few years.
I've always thought Henderson was a player devoid of confidence and that's where Klopp made the most difference imo.

He played the entire second half of the season in 18/19, culminating in assisting Divock's goal in the final. Maybe lightening will strike twice

I’m not often disappointed by his performances, more by his injury issues and availability.

On top of everything, he seems like a top bloke. Much like the rest of the squad. One of the reasons for our success I'd like to think.

Another thumbs up for Matip. For me he was MOTM for no.6 in Madrid - Kane was clearly unfit, but you still can't ignore him and Matip had him trussed up tighter than your average Christmas turkey. He started out as a MF and you can see that in the confidence he's showing with his distribution now, plus he adds a bit of grit to the mixture personality-wise (snarling at players who kick him, celebrated his goal against Wolves big style). I'm massively encouraged for the future by the way we've rallied round in the wake of Virgil's and other important defenders' injuries, and Matip has been a big part of that.

I think he's great too, he's definitely softened the blow of us losing VVD, by being the same sort of calm and domineering presence in the back line. He reads the game exceptionally well and I agree, he's our second best defender.

I'm hoping Gomez is still just young and slightly inexperienced, but there are times I worry about his progress (and injuries).

Gomez I'm seriously concerned about now. 4th major injury, and he's just 23. Really difficult to come back from that.

Matip's always been brittle too, but when he's fit, he's really excellent.

We definitely need to bring in a new long term guy though. Just too much long term uncertainty around all our defenders given their injuries.

Pretty much, I'm quite impressed with Rhys though, but he probably needs a few years and a loan spell out before he's properly ready to compete. I like what I've seen so far though.
