For those of you who want more footie, Racing are playing Barca on Sky Sports at 10.00
3-0 barca..

We still do that daft thing when we've got possession: late on, we were moving the ball around nicely, keeping it calm, then we passed back to Carra, who for some bizarre reason decided to hit a speculative ball into the middle for Gerrard to try to head down and move away from three Leeds players close by. Why not just pass it to feet? It's a strange neurotic little tic we have as a team.

. Oh, and Dossena is still not very good is he?
To be fair to him, their player (Snodgrass?) was pretty good quick and tricky. But yes, he seemed way off the pace and unsure of his position.
Fair point, Snodgrass was for much of the game their most dangerous player, but Dossena is supposed to be an international defender.

I did feel a little bit sorry for him a couple of times. His career really has taken a nosedive hasn't it? Multi million pound transfer to Liverpool one minute, struggling in a Carling Cup game against a lower division club, wearing the number 38 shirt the next!

ngog has a funny voice.
I know, listening to him you'd think he was 50
sounded like mr bean.

I think all the callers on the LFCTV post match phone in have rubbed cocaine into their gums. Manic. Les Lawson is wearing the black and gold away shirt tonight, so I guess he's had a seriously messy supper.

mash may well get banned for that slap as the ref didn't see it or punish it and if it's longer than one game eh'll miss the chelsea match. the AWAY chelsea match.

That was one of our most enjoyable matches in ages. Really enjoyed that.

N'gog did well, Babel looked good in stages. Spearing was decent enough too - there is no reason to play Lucas ahead of him.
because spearing goes for glory rather than give it easy?
No. Because he is just as good.

spearing ahead of lucas every day. degen played well - is he now out for the season?

didn't expect to see carra play and i rather he wasn't played. fat italian is shit, even at this level.

n'gog might make himself a regular squad player and with a bit of luck we'll see the end of voronin.

don't know whats going on with babel, he seems up for it.

good run out for everyone else, and oh masch is a nutter, if he gets himself banned rafa should sell the cunt at xmas 😉

Lucas is much better than Spearing on tonight's showing.

I thought we did pretty well but Leeds were ultimately hard done by. Their goal was legit and we weren't *that* good so they probably deserved to get into extra time.

Positives:

- The Greeks heading was awesome.
- Babel again looked a threat.
- Degen wasn't useless, quite the opposite. He also played with a big grin on his face, good to see.
- We didn't need to use our big guns.
-N'gog scored a goal Henry would have been proud of - the first touch was exceptional, and the goal capped an overall good performance.

Negatives:

- Carra looked ropey at times, again. I don't think he should have started.
- That keeper is still shit
- Riera was pretty average. I'd expect a first teamer, Spanish international to stand out against the likes of Leeds, and he didn't at all.
- Mascherano acting a cock. Again. I don't like him wearing a red shirt. He's such a cunt.

This was a really difficult match as expected because Leeds are a difficult side to beat taking into account how they've been playing of late.

I was glad to see Spearing make his first start for the senior team and was also impressed with the contribution made by him, Degen, Ngog and the Krygaros (spelling).

Babel played well again in consecutive games on the far right and it seems like this position fits him well better than when he plays on the far left. I think he swithced from playing on the right in the 1st half, to playing on the left during the 2nd half and even as a striker when Ngog was subtituted.

Glad to see Aurelio back in action.

To be fair this early Spearing showing was much better than an early Lucas showing.

I think spearing is desparate to impress, more than once he went for glory when we had players forwards in numbers, say want you want about lucas but he always gives it easy.

also has to be said there was a moment in the game that infuriated me, it was a passage of play we we had leeds chasing shadows after loads of easy give and go pass, leeds didn't get close to the ball, the crowd went quiet and then someone passes to carra who unchallenged lumped it forwards giving the ball away needlessly which leeds gratefully accepted and almost built an attack they scored from.

I always breathe a sigh of relief when rather throws the fringe together and we get a result. we layed a new system with many layers who have barely kicked a ball all season, against a team that is top of their league. yeah, it was 'only leeds' but they play together week in week out.

they have a talented winger who was up against a left who hasn't played a single minute of first team football all season (correct?) aurelio who has been out all season, a season back who has played one game, and a host of players that have that season have minutes rathr than hours under their belt. at least the reserves know each other, have a system and have played a few games. I thought when you take everything into account they did a very good job indeed considering.

Must have taken lessons from Bellers.

Aurelio had a fairly quiet first half, but had more of an influence in the second. He did what most of us expected, showing good vision and judgement, making some really good passes and looking very classy. Considering there was so little space in a frenetic game I thought he coped well, and acted generally like a responsible senior player.

seeing how it was his first game back I thought he was excellent, I love his corners, they have so much whip on them.

next round the teams I want to aviod are arsenal (because their youth is experienced with playing together) and chelsea (because of the depth of their sqaud) other than that anyone will do as long as we're at home.

Agreed. If he gets a regular slot in the first team, let's keep him taking them and get Stevie on the end of them.

If we are drawn against Chelski again can we just withdraw? I genuinely don't think I can take one more cup tie against them for at least five years. Bring on Scunthorpe. Or someone.

Maybe, I dunno - there's not much in it but then I've never really spotted any promise in Spearing. You also have to consider that Spearing has grown up playing English football, English lifestyle, etc - all of which helps enormously.

I like the look of Spearing.

He's so tiny though.

But then again, so was Zola.
