We are now three points behind Spurs (who have a game in hand), with a superior goal difference. I have a feeling we could actually pip them to 5th.

ok , they have a game in hand but considering all the problems we've had this season , we're only 3 points behind the mighty Spurs and let's not forget they're having one of the greatest seasons of all time with the most deserving Player of the Season ever in their ranks .

Yeah i agree Bunny.

I think they've still got us, the Chavs and City to play as well

We can even nick 4th.

Slim chance admittedly, but it's definitely possible. You can bet Citeh as well as Tottenham are looking over their shoulders at us now.

4 Man City 32 20 56
5 Tottenham 33 8 55
6 Liverpool 34 12 52
7 Everton 34 5 47

Fourth?

We can pick up 64 points max, so that leaves City only needing 9 points from 6 games. With the rather soft schedule they have, it's hard to see that happening. Some of their players might save themselves for the FA Cup final and hence not apply themselves in some games, but I think it's still unlikely that they can't get 9 points from their games against Blackburn, West Ham, Everton, Spurs, Stoke and Bolton.

I'm really hoping that Spurs, Everton, Stoke and Blackburn can surprise us.
I think Spurs and Man C will bottle it, but I also think we won't manage to win the rest of our games. If Gerrard was on the mend, maybe but our midfield three of Spearing, Lucas and Meireles is far too defensive and lacks creativity and I'm saying this after a 5-0 drubbing of Birmingham.

no chance of 4th, city just a bit too far ahead now, but i think we've a great chance of 5th. we beat spurs and we're 3 behind with a much better GD, and they also play chelsea and city away. i think 2 wins and a draw from our other 3 games would do us, probably - win them all and i'm pretty certain we'd get 5th.

I can't think of forth until Man Citeh start dropping the points.
(If we had of got one fucking win out of Blackpool, Wigan, West Ham, West Brom, etc. Jeeeeeesus.)

Just goes to show how close we are to being back in Europe.

Kenny Dalglish. All doubts dispelled = he is the one to take us forward. What a difference from the mentality when we played Brum under Roy.

And putting 3 past Citeh......... and matching the best looking midfield on paper at the Emirates......... etc.

I said it a few weeks ago - something about Lucas and Spearing together just works. Somehow they compliment each other very nicely. As we've seen with manu it's not about having great players or star players its about having balance. Our midfield is very balanced just now and, while they sure don't look like Europes elite, they've taken on everyone in that's been thrown at them.

There were a few on here who said they'd be convinced if our midfield could handle Arsenal. Well, they seemed to simply get swapped around between 1 and 2 in the MoM thread after Arsenal and now we've put 5 past Brum. If nothing else they're giving Kenny plenty of........ options.

I hadn't thought of it that way, but you're right. The team functions very efficiently with Lucas and Spearing together in CM. I don't know whether that's the personnel or the way Kenny has got the team playing around them. There's so much more movement now, I even wonder whether Pucas might look half-decent.

I think 5th will come down to our game with Spurs, and City will need something out of their last game to secure 4th. Unfortunately I think they will get it.

I missed the game and just watched the MOTD highlights. Joe Cole didnt look arsed after he scored did he? I thought having not been in contention lately he'd have shown a little emotion after scoring. Anyone would think he scored against his old club or something. Maybe he knows he's off in the summer?

Think it was to do with their keeper making a mistake. Let's face it Foster (and Reina) would have kept that out.

I certainly don't think it was because he wasn't bothered. On the contrary, I reckon it's because he badly wanted to do well and is majorly annoyed with himself that things haven't been working out for him here.

Yeah I think he felt a bit embarrassed.
It's a bit sad if it was about him leaving. Didn't see any celebrating from Kenny either.
