It doesn't matter what it is, the Crown will never come for me and by extention any of you. All that's happened is when Greenwood got arrested last November, that vile club of his must have provided lawyers and got the story shut down, with gagging orders and so forth. Now that didn't age well for them, they don't want people discussing their role in this for catastrophic commercial reasons, and so their lawyers have written letters to redcafe and the other shitholes their fans congregate upon, and threatened them with some laughable stuff to make them delete the discussions.

If those lawyers send a letter to us, just forward it to me and consider the matter closed.

I love how everyone has convinced themselves that their inane witterings on a football forum is capable of bringing down a criminal trial.

I can't remember the last time someone succeeded with the argument that they can't receive a fair trial because everybody saw them do it in a video on the internet.

It might have 10 years ago, can't believe more wasn't made of it. This guy should not be playing football

Marcos Alonso

Marcos Alonso was involved in a fatal car accident at Madrid

Chelsea full-back Marcos Alonso, who turned out for Bolton Wanderers at the time, was arrested in 2011 for his involvement in a car crash in Spain’s capital Madrid. He was the driver of the car which collided with a wall which led to the death of a co-passenger, who was a 22-year-old woman.
Alonso was driving at 122.8kmh in wet conditions in a 50 kmh zone. What made the car crash even more tragic was the fact that the Spaniard had a blood alcohol level of 0.93mg per litre. (Almost 3 times the permissible alcohol level in Spain)
Originally facing four years in prison, Alonso had his sentence reduced to 21 months and it was later dropped completely, as the full-back paid €500,000 in an out-of-court settlement to the victim's family.
The high-flying full-back is currently a regular feature for Chelsea in the Premier League, but the Spaniard arguably deserved more punishment for causing the death of an innocent 22-year-old.

Can we do something about these stupid thread bumps ?

Because now i want to ask about the fella finnan killed, and this doesn't seem the thread

Did we turn off the lock on inactive threads? I'd say any older than a week since last posting should be locked

I disagree, sometimes older threads can be useful – you might not get any news on Bellingham for a week, so no one will post there, but how are we then supposed to extend it to 100 pages if it's locked?

The challenge of getting it to 100 pages means nothing if we can have 2 years of posts in it.

How do we appease the gods with minimum effort like that?

If a thread keeps going for 2 years, then maybe it's meant to keep going... Anyway, I agree that this thread bump was a little annoying (because we all probably expected some new major development in the case when we clicked on it and instead it was about another player), but let's not overreact and alter the whole system because of it.

I did not know about Marcos Alonso's case. Mason Greenwood is unlikely to play football in the UK again or probably any top flight club and rightly so. Marco Alonso did something worse, he killed a person, and he can't say he did not the risk of drink driving. I only added my post here as I saw it as double standards

I didn't know about Alonso either ... and yes, it's a bit crazy he never went to jail.
There should be zero tolerance for drunk drivers ... you fucked up? Jail for life. 1 strike yer out.

No one this pious over Finnan? Going twice the speed limit and ran someone over?

You're right, just reading about Finnan's case. He should have served time, and the club should have terminated his contract. I guess we are just as bad as Chelsea.
Alonso s still playing, and should he be?

I like threads coming back to life out of years, especially out of nowhere to see what’s changed. Normally it’s related to an ex player acting twat. Keep it going…

I have a conviction for driving under the influence. Fortunately was pulled over by routine check stop. No one hurt, no damage. And I'm still haunted by more poor decision making and what could have been.

Glad I'm not imprisoned for life though.

I meant who killed someone... obviously what you did isnt prison worthy

Isn't it?

A few years ago the amount of drunken drivers on the roads in China was horrific. They ran tests stopping everyone entering the motorway ramps in three major cities after 19.00 and found up to 70% over the limit (Guangzhou, 50% in Shanghai). The rules were strengthened numerous times over the next couple of years (noting the impact the changes were having), 2 weeks in prison and your car confiscated for ANY alcohol in your system (I've never heard of this being handed down but have heard of numerous people held for 48 hours and car impounded for up to 2 weeks, but I guess it's good to have it there to be implemented in extreme cases), some guys got nailed the next morning on the way to work after a binge the night before.

Now when you go to any hotel or restaurant event there are always designated drivers not drinking and outside a new service - guys on tiny fold-up motorbikes who'll drive you home in your own car. It's an amazing change in a country where the drinking culture (often extreme) at social events is often unavoidable or expected.

If any player who committed any offence (particularly driving offences) was banned for life then English clubs in the 1980s and 1990s would have been seriously struggling to put 11 players out.

The reason that clubs now end up suspending players who have been accused of certain things is generally because of money (sponsorship etc).

It's my opinion all vehicle should have alcohol ignition interlocks installed at factory. Make drink driving impossible.

I had an interlock for one year after my suspension and it changed my thoughts and behavior completely.
