Javier Mascherano claims Liverpool did not show interest in keeping him or Fernando Torres at the club.

Mascherano, who secured a move to Barcelona at the start of the season after refusing to play against Manchester City, was heavily criticised for his actions as Liverpool were seemingly forced into accepting his departure.

However, after Reds fans burned Torres shirts following his £50 million move to Chelsea on Monday, Mascherano has spoken up in defence of his former team-mate.

"I was not surprised about what happened with Fernando," he told a press conference. "When I left Liverpool, it looked as if I killed someone. It is sad that the people who did something important with the club have to leave by the back door.

"It is sad that the press and the club try to convince people that it is all the player's fault when the reality is that Liverpool didn't show the interest in keeping us in the club. The most important players didn't leave the club well.

"I spoke with Fernando and I said to him that he doesn't have to be worried because he did his best for the club. Even though he didn't win any trophies, he was a very important player and helped this club all the time."

Contradicted by Kenny today

Dalglish hinted that Torres' conduct left a lot to be desired but, ahead of Sunday's clash with Chelsea, he said the striker he was no longer important to Liverpool.

"Everybody was disappointed that he left the club," Dalglish said. "Most disappointing was the timing, but we move on. The football club will always be here, and no person is bigger than this football club.

"The club and the owners did everything we possibly could but it was not to be, so he moved on. He's playing for someone else now. The most important people are the people at this football club."

Asked how he will prepare to shackle Torres, Dalglish replied: "We'll just play against any player they put on the pitch. We're more important than any player they've got."

Arse Splinters affecting your brain Masher? How much more did you want Liverpool to pay you per week - thats what you are getting at.

didn't show the interest in keeping us in the club = money. Plain and simple.

Enjoying watching Messi each week from your prime position next to Pep?

So Masher weally, weally didn't want to go, despite rumours of him being unsettled for AGES, him refusing to play for us AND Barcelona coming in for him?

MMMMMmmmmmm k!

Torres is such a whore. He'll fuck you for 120k a week, but that extra 50k and he'll smile while he's doing it.

I think it could have also been something to do with the massive fucking red thumb print on his head, and his bollocks in a vice.

He has had more bench time than a tramp.

I think mash and torres fail to grasp is not the 'wanting' to leave it's 'how' they left, and mash is talking shit when he claims the club didn't want them. fucking bullshit. he (mash) was overrated anyway so who gives a fuck about him.

to be fair I don't think the move has less to do about money and more to do with our ability to challenge at the very top.

*speechless*

would torres have left if we were top 4? would torres have left if we'd won a trophy in the 3 years he was here? anyway, what's done is done we have to new strikers now so who cares about torres?

For personal reasons, there's one thing in life I can't stand - revisionism. Someone makes up stuff after the fact to self justify. Really dislike it. Masher - you are on my list. And if someone leaves us like either of you, yes it should be through a trap door. Back door not good enough.

I never warmed to Javier personally. I think some even said I had an irrational hatred of him, but there was just something about his character on the pitch which pissed me off.

Very good player though.

I know! cheeky cunt! refusing to play and then bemoaning the fact the fans turned on him. seriously, it's like footballers were never fans when they were little.

Masher wasn't overrated.

He's a twat though obviously.
[/quote]

I thought his passing was at best competent and at worst poor, that's a pretty big flaw in a destroyer's game. didi for example was an excellent passer of the ball, not alonsoesque but he usually found a team mate but mash misplaced passes all the frigging time. there was one time when mash (and this is no exaggeration) misplaced a pass to a team mate who was standing LITERALLY four yards from him. how is that even POSSIBLE?!

He consistently had one of the highest pass completion rates in the league.

But let's not get into what a good player he was. This thread is about what a cunt he is. Stay on topic.

I think that says it all about the guy tbh. I'm glad he's getting splinters in his arse from Barca's bench.

I literally don't know

I defended Masher longer than most, and I certainly don't agree that he was at all "overrated", but he's really made a pig's ear of every statement he's issued since he decided to leave. They all sound like the person he's trying hardest to convince is himself. Zip it Masher FFS.

Ha ha ha.
Mascherano is either a liar or he simply has a very short memory.
He's obviously has some concious cleaning to do and is using Torres' departue for showing that he's not the only cunt around.
Anyway he's a cunt and I hope he enjoys watching Busquets, Xavi et al from the bench

Spidey, you're just wrong about Masher. Very wrong.

But this thread isn't to talk up his footballing abilities or to disprove common myths ("Masher can't pass", which is a load of fucking nonsense), but to talk about what a fucking lying two faced cunt he is. I think I actually defended him as well... cunt.
