Man Utd v Liverpool Match Thread

We’re giving these too much respect as we’re a newly promoted side, man up for fuck sake

United are playing well, tight defensively and forcing mistakes. Deservedly winning.

We can't play this poorly in the second half

Very strange so far – we don't look like ourselves, started the game flat and jittery, seemingly intimidated by the big occasion. Firmino inexplicably failed to see Salah who was in acres of space and picking up speed on the right. Klopp's big tactical innovation for this game seems to be Mane picking up the ball in the middle and trying to be the playmaker – which is just about the worst way possible to use Mane's qualities. Meanwhile, Mourinho has correctly identified Lovren and Trent as a weakness and they scored from 2 identical goal kicks from De Gea to Lukaku. So far it's a tactical masterclass from Mourinho while we are weirdly devoid of emotion and energy.

I think some of our players are afraid of getting clattered. I guess that's one way to combat the pressing game.

So long balls to our right backs and that's the way to beat us

We're very timid. Very beaten. Where's the character, the fight?

Same old problem with this Liverpool team. Make sure you keep it tight at the back and they'll give you a chance or three. Pathetic.

Not a single player who should be proud of their performance in this half. And no one on the bench I'd be thrilled to bring on.
