They've got more than enough money to buy themselves out of trouble. That's obviously the big difference between us, then, and them, now.
What they probably need most urgently is a cohesive boardroom, because everything they've done since Slur Drinkalot left has looked fudged and incoherent. They went with Moyes because that seemed to be a tiny bit like continuity (although not all of the directors wanted him), then they went with Van Gaal because it seemed a bit glamorous (although not all directors wanted him), and then they went with Mourinho because, well, they wanted to win stuff (even though some directors found his appointment abhorrent) - presumably while they tried to sort themselves out and achieve a consensus. And in that time, they've carried on winning things, and the massive corporate side of the operation has continued much as before, so there's not really been a crisis. But it's the boardroom that needs fixing - until they agree on a common ambition, they won't regain the momentum.
