I can understand his irritation about Klopp and Pochettino being media darlings, despite not actually winning anything and finishing below him this season.

Which is why it will be great to watch his lip curl so much his face turns inside out if we beat Real on Saturday, and the pressure really WILL be on.

Not being an arsehole could prove helpful for him.

The stupid thing is.... they havent actually understood the fact that it takes time & a constant manager to build a quality team.... How long did it take Fergie to get it right? 5 years or something.... and even then thats no guarantee.

Most of their fans are people who have jumped on the bandwagon because they were glory hunters... and now that they arent the best team they dont understand actually how to support the team in the best way...

They should really take a look at us as a good example, as we are the only club who have had a similar experience to them.... learn from how Liverpool have done things good and bad... but no, they seem content to throw money, change managers and basically be fickle idiots with a major sense of entitlement.

I think we as Liverpool fans have learned over time that success should be enjoyed and that when it comes be humble and respect it.... it is a special thing that isnt forever.

Until those dicks realise that they will keep fucking up...

Long may it continue.

Indeed.

They have a decent team though. They've thrown enough money at it and can continue to do so to make it even better.

The problem they have is City who can also spend big and have bought really well over the past few windows. Well, that and the fact that that you can argue Mourinho isn't getting the most out of what they've got.

They've got more than enough money to buy themselves out of trouble. That's obviously the big difference between us, then, and them, now.

What they probably need most urgently is a cohesive boardroom, because everything they've done since Slur Drinkalot left has looked fudged and incoherent. They went with Moyes because that seemed to be a tiny bit like continuity (although not all of the directors wanted him), then they went with Van Gaal because it seemed a bit glamorous (although not all directors wanted him), and then they went with Mourinho because, well, they wanted to win stuff (even though some directors found his appointment abhorrent) - presumably while they tried to sort themselves out and achieve a consensus. And in that time, they've carried on winning things, and the massive corporate side of the operation has continued much as before, so there's not really been a crisis. But it's the boardroom that needs fixing - until they agree on a common ambition, they won't regain the momentum.

Spurs more than anyone, as they think they will lose their gaffer if we win.

Do people really think that if Zidane fails to become the most successful European manager in modern history by only his 3rd season in management that Madrid will bin off a club legend for a guy who has never won a major trophy?

I mean its possible but it seems really unlikely at this point. Its not even like Pochetino is some up and coming wonderkid, Zidanes younger than him.

They won two CL trophies, how many managers can say they've won 2 CL trophies?
In how many seasons and with how much money compared to most of the rest of Europe ? One of those was damn lucky Terry slipped too ! They have an abysmal record in the CL and pretty much every Manc will hold his hand up to that.

I don't think the board give a shit what fans think as long as they stay in top 4

I'm not sure that will hold true if they go more than a year or two without winning anything at all, despite Ed admitting that the commercial aspect is largely unaffected by on-field performance

They have walked around for all these years and pretended they are the bestest and biggest thing in football since a round ball. Yet, back in 81 Real Madrid still talked about caving La Septima.. The Seventh. They lost out that night in Paris and it was still 17 years till it arrived. Since then a few special teams and a few very special players has done amazing things in Europe. Milan, Barca and Real Madrid dominating the winning. Bayern and Juve forces to reckon. Liverpool with the miracle in Istanbul and back in the final going for no 6. Maldini with 5 to his own name in addition to lost finals. Iniesta with 4. So this cunt of a club has a reason to be ashamed of their European legacy. They are actually lucky counting to 3, but they are in a position were it would look pathetic if they started to refer to them as special, cause that would be the same as admitting there are plenty bigger clubs around including us... They have all resources in the world but are better at acting big time Charlie than actually being one. I can't Express my delight that they are stuck with Mourinho and his shit defensive tactics and his narsistic antics. It suits them 100% and long may it continue.

Winners 98/99 and 07/08
Losing finalists 08/09 and 10/11
Bayern Munich in the same period have been winners twice and losing finalists 3 times. I'm not here to defend United, but to say they have been shit in Europe during Fergie's reign would sound bitter (@moron)

Based on their behaviour as massive twats believing they owned the sport (which in their eyes started in 92) 2 wins in 26 years is nowhere good. It is actually quite shit. Other teams have done much better in periods where they dominated. I don't bother to list it all, but Ajax in the 70's, us in the 70/80's, Milan in the 90's, United should have done it in 00's and Barca and Real in 10's. Huge difference.

They've been saying that since 05.

Most valuable club again this season.

A few years without a league title or a CL might chance that

The signs are unmistakable - they just haven't recognised it yet. They are in slow (and hopefully long) decline - good, but not quite good enough - while down the East Lancs Road a team with an exciting manager plays wonderful football with energy, skill and genuine stars - such strong parallels between now and Fergie's breakthrough year.
