I blame Agger for not just jockeying him. Giving that diving spaz any excuse is suicide. Gerrard was stupid. Between him and Agger it was like watching drunk 14 year olds run into a brothel. If they'd have been patient we could have won that match.

Overall the performance was very encouraging.

Let's not get too carried away. We've had loads of one off performances over the last few years. We need a consistent run of 5 or 6 games with that approach before I'll allow myself to be convinced

Agree with this, we have upped our game against the bigger sides this season already so it's no surprise we played with a bit of heart and passion but we need to take it into the next few games, and without gerrard aswel

I think some of our better matches were played without SG but with Lucas & Meiress in the middle

I haven't read any of what's gone before, but how refreshing to see us make proactive substitutions in an attempt to win the game, despite being a man down. Granted, the replacements weren't good enough, but he can only work with what he's got. There was a real intent about the performance which has been sorely lacking in recent times.

Berbacunt MOTM?

My united supporting friend thought he deserved it as he was always on the ball and won the pen. I don't agree but no one else stood out bar Howard Webb.

Kelly was our MOTM. Has he had a poor game for us yet?

For them Giggs.

Who is Atlas - anyone ? New name to me but many posts.

I see kenny's appointment in the way it should be viewed, a short term calming influence that will unite the fans and inspire the players until the long term manager is in place next season.

Unless the right man is Kenny.

Disappointed with the result but there was an energy about us that has been missing for sometime. I'm hoping that Kenny can fire the boys up for the remainder of the season and salvage a bit of pride in playing for the shirt at least.

As expected: improved performance, more desire, a defeat.

Some of the optimism is laughable. When Gerrard went off, the only other genuine goal threat was Torres

We did well and restricted them enough. It was pleasing in terms of solidity and on the back of what we've seen of late. People have every right to be optimistic. We were playing probably the best team in the Premiership, they're not great but in contrast to that shite midweek it was a vast improvement.

Miserable arse 😉

The chances of success are stacked heavily against, as always, so stop playing the smart are by putting all your apples in the 'failure' basket, no one gives a shit if you end up being right.

for us to move forwards we need to empower the team and stop relying on individuals, we need players to take some responibility rather than being sheep and waiting for someone else to make something happen.

I know you don't want to hear this mark but I really do think it's time to get rid of kuyt and bring in someone who may not score as much (kuyt isn't even doing much of that anymore) and bring in someone who is going to be direct and an option for bring the ball forwards and give good service to the strikers. The same can be said for left midfield but no one has laid claim to that position. bottom line is we need players to feed the strikers we HAVE rather than going on about the strikers lack goals considering the piss poor service.

there's a lot of work to be done and I don't see much happening till the summer because normally good players aren't availble in the winter.

Agger barely touched him though. The lino was in a far better position than Webb to see it and never flagged. Appalling piece of refereeing in more ways than one.

The odds against us aren't 'heavily stacked'.

We're paying the price for poor signings, uncertain ownership, some disastrous decisions at board level, and little recent investment in the team.

Nobody thinks we have a great team, we don't, but we have one better than what we have shown in recent months.

Getting shut of Budgie was a good move, and needed to be done, and as a short-term, feel-good caretaker, then Kenny was the obvious and correct choice.

But he's a King, not a God. He can't, and won't, perform miracles.

The very least he will do (and the very least I expect) is that he does a better job than Budgie.

I'm not asking for much.

Exactly.

One sentence from that interview encapsulates the difference between Kenny and Roy, namely where he said to the interviewer: "It'll be a hard game for them as much as it is for us."

As the ad used to say, WHAT a refreshing change.

I just want to say my admiration of kenny has gone up (if that were possible) since becoming manager again. the man has an absolutely faultless image and reputation and he has put that image on the line regardless of how his image may be tarnished if things go tits up. that if the measure of the man, he has put the club before himself.
