This is the crux of the problem, people can criticise Can and Henderson, but they are the only two with an idea of how to sit and cover the defense, even if neither of them are particularly natural at it. Milner is the type who needs someone like that alongside him, he'll roam and press, but he won't sit in the centre and get his foot on the ball. While AOC will pick the ball up when it's loose and attack, he'll dig in, but again he's not natural at holding a zone and trying to keep it tight.

We've suffered here from having neither Henderson or Can available.
