I know we're all really happy with the result and we had a good second half, but even looking back with the benefit of not being on the edge of a heart attack, I don't think it was a game of 8-9 performances all round.

We were lost at sea for 45mins in that game and could've easily lost the game / tie but for some rather favourable refereeing decisions.

Did anyone see that lass interview Lovren after the game..... The Scottish pronunciation of 'worulwind' totally threw him.... Hilarious

Context is everything.... and we were playing the 'best team in the world' away from home.

We just beat City away 2-1 in the QF in the Champions league, of course we should be dishing out 8/9 for the performances. Its about the whole 90 mins, not just the first 45.

Why spend time thinking about what could have been and that we could have lost the tie. Silva's shot hit the post, the goal was ruled offside and we stepped up in the second half. They had 4 shots on target over 2 legs. We deserved it.
Just enjoy the win and a place in the Semi finals.

So apparently if we win Big Ears Coutinho can receive a medal- it is in Klopp's gift to decide if he gives him it.

Milner though, after 3 intensive games in a week. And he looked like had just causally walked around without breaking a sweat for 90 mins before his post match interview yesterday. How fit is that man?!

On the offside goal debate, I always thought that the defender play has to be deliberate for the attacker to be played onside. Was/is this the case?

It came of karius and hit milner. No one was offside at all at any point I think

Sorry everyone. Here's the delayed RAAAAAAAAAAATINGS!

It's hard to be objective after the euphoria of that final aggregate score, especially given the largely horrible first half, in which we were very fortunate to only concede one goal after City totally bossed the game. We looked ragged in possession, and went missing in midfield, and even the usual demonic harrying and closing down from Firmino was subdued, as we were heavy-legged and slow mentally.

There were signs of recovery as Milner started to try and get a foothold, and Chamberlain got on the ball more often, but the key moment was the disallowed goal, which seemed to deflate City. After that, we looked far more like the team that had terrorised City in two previous games; the irrepressible Salah - who else - scored the goal that ended all hope, and then Firmino scored with an exquisite finish to really take the piss. Lovely stuff.

Karius (6) Some nervous moments in that first half, with a silly throw to Virgil that led to the first goal, and a very poor clearance that Milner kneed back into the 6 yard box for Sane to score, thankfully disallowed. Had no chance with the brilliant effort that came back off the post, and after that looked far more confident and claimed everything in the air.

TAA (8) Sane got more joy in this game as he had far more close support, largely because Cuntiola went all-out attack and played every attacking player at his disposal all at once, but TAA again stood up well, and kept his discipline despite an early card. One or two great passes too, which is becoming a trademark. also helped by sane not understanding the offside rule. The dopey cunt.

Virgil (7) Poor defending for the goal, as he took a silly throw from Karius, and then seemed intent on falling sideways under the challenge from Sterling, which was a foul, but he shouldn't have let it happen, given he's twice his fucking size. Won everything in the air and looked in control after that shaky start.

Lovren (9) If he played like this every week, he'd be worth what we paid for Virgil. There was one silly challenge on the dangerous cheating cunt Sterling, but other than hat he was immaculate and almost manically focussed. He seemed to grow physically as the game went on, and by the end it looked like we had a Cave Troll playing in defence, as tiny humans in blue shirts swarmed around him like gnats, and he swatted everything aside with malicious intent.

Robertson (7) Had his hands full with the excellent and tricky B Silva, as City launched wave after wave of attacks, so he wasn't able to get forwards much, which only served to illustrate how utterly vital he is to our overall game as an attacking outlet. It's hard to express just how brilliant he has been since getting into the side.

Wijnaldum (7) Another who was absent without leave in that first half, he simply couldn't make any impression at all, and we had little control of the midfield area. But he was a player transformed after the break, with sharp passing, clever positioning and some incisive passing. He was never scared to take the ball while surrounded, and usually found a way out of trouble.

Milner (8) Looked as bewildered as anyone in the first half, as De Bruyne and co glided hither and thither, without letting Milner lay a glove on them. Then decided that in lieu of any possession, the best tactic was to simply launch himself at, in front of, and towards the ball whenever it was near him, grimly determined to do at least something to get in City's face. And it worked. As the game wore on, he got more influential, and every pass was judicious and crafty.. He was immense.

Chamberlain (7) Just couldn't get going for the first 40 minutes, as the ball went past him, bounced off him and dribbled away from him. Then made a burst into the area to remind everyone that we were still a threat, and kept that drive and energy going in the second half.

Mane (7) Worked like a Trojan, and started to cause mayhem as we got hold of the ball, going left, right and through the middle, charging at City's defence with skill, speed and aggression. Vital part in the first goal.

Salah (7) Not really at his imperious best, as we just couldn't get the ball to him often enough, but he was still a lurking menace, and sure enough, one glimpse of goal was enough, as he lifted a nerveless finish over the sprawling City defence for the killer goal.

Firmino (7) Played wider on the left than usual, and looked well below par as we struggled. But he never stopped working, even if he didn't have quite his usual sharpness, and then punished sloppy defending by Otamendi to score a delightful second goal to win the match on the night.
