No LTW, I agree on the referee. Fucking shocker.

What a game. Just got out the ground now and have to go to a NYE party with the missus family. Her stepdad is a city fan. Can't wait to get there.

Ok it must have been even worse than I thought then! 😛

Happy new Year mate!

Gini and lallana were pure class. Lallana is just so damn silky smooth , Firmino was tricky little bastard not as effective as he should have been but cause them problems by the boatload as did Mane.

Klavan is classy, Lovren was sound and Mignolet bar that fucking juggling act was sound.

Clyne typically watertight and milner very effective against Sterling.

Well played Red men.

That early season away quad of Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea and Leicester doesnt look so fucking tough now ay?

To have only United and City away left of all the big 6 from last year and be where we are is some serious work.

I am so gutted about Burnley and Bournemouth because they are such winable games, but then we have gone and won a stack of easily losable games so not much point moaning.

I was talking to my pal the other day (hes a Spurs fan) and we were chatting about how angry we get dropping points and it makes being in this position horrible. I have no right to be mad, we are the 5th richest club but we sit in 2nd. We have no right to be even in the top 4 and rather than CURSE that we are six points behind chelsea, I should be pinching myself every day that we have Klopp, and all these brilliant players and a stable club and are challenging in that top four.

Its the glimpse of that title that makes me miserable, so im not thinking about that again.
Im going to enjoy our games as they come and when we lose (and we will) say to myself, we are still doing well, and we are still Liverpool.

Happy new year motherfuckers

I think our fans are horribly one eyed when it comes to refs, I thought he was firmly on our side.

Friends are sickened which is fantastic especially after them winning so late. Granted it's still a good resent for Utd as they are chasing 4th and we'll be 2nd now I'm sure
Bollix.
They got almost everything wrong.
Stop trying to be different and controversial with this one eyed bias shite that you started.
It doesn't suit your intelligence.

Nice summary of things, and I pretty much agree with everything you wrote there.

Just one minor thing - we played Leicester at home...

  • I think both teams looked exhausted after the first 20 minutes, the heavy schedule is starting to catch up to players. Not a coincidence that our most active player was Lallana, who had a little "vacation" due to injury and theirs was Aguero.
  • Because of the tiredness, there was a huge number of mistakes from players in both teams. To be fair, part of the reason also must be two counter-pressing teams canceling each other out – I've never seen either LFC or MCFC lose possession so frequently this season, it was like pinball in the middle of the park at times. There were plenty of mental mistakes too, especially when our players kept choosing the wrong option on the counter. City's midfield were anemic too, Yaya and Fernandinho never once tried to drive the ball forward, just settled for passing sideways.
  • Klopp surprised me (and maybe also Pep) by giving up possession in favor of defensive solidity. City dominated the ball, but couldn't create chances until a period from 60 to 80th minute. We showed a different way to win, which is great.
  • Wijnaldum, Lallana and the whole back 4 (especially Klavan and Milner) had terrific games. Firmino was very leggy for most of the game and I thought Can was just terrible – after moving into Hendo's position he seemed not to know where to position himself (Lallana and Gini often had to cover the space behind him) and kept missing tackles. I love Can, but he doesn't look good when he's rusty with lack of game time.
  • John Stones had probably his best game for City yet.
  • Any word on Hendo? Definitely can't afford to miss him for any extended period of time.
  • Happy New Year, everybody! Let's hope it's our year.

I think today's result was a tactical masterstroke by Klopp. Instead of playing the ball to feet as we like to do, we were playing a lot of Route One stuff which was troubling the City defence.

I think that Klopp figured that if we tried to out-pass City in midfield, we were going to lose that contest.

What a fucking game by Milner and Wijnaldum and what a cross by Lallana.
Great fucking way to start the new year.

TBF to migs, his kicking has improved significantly which was one of his many flaws last season.

He's also not conceded directly from a corner which is another positive.

Wijnaldum, Klaven and Lallana were the stand out players. We weren't brilliant but made easy work out of a club who can afford any player in the world. I dont think they created a chance.

@Piedro Pete I normally don't want to hear shite about other people's family gatherings, but I'd like to hear about this one.

What I've learnt from that thread is that Man City fans are really begrudged to give us any credit for our performances in the league this year, and that they fucking blindly follow the "greatest manager in the world" who they have "no right to question".
What I saw was that there were 92 pages of post match discussion on the losers forum and six on this. Hopefully that indicates folks here have a life
