One missing link last year: Acquilani. Put the ball near Ngog and the goal and it's going in. Too much talk of them somewhere else.

Insua look fit, solid and much quicker than before his loan period.

His positioning still looks a bit suspect.

poulsen shits shit

So do I.

Haha, Aquilani tries an Alonso from the halfway line. On target but keeper careful enough.

Kuyt 6-3

FT, very entertaining second half

Any reason why Skrtel didn't travel?
His missus is expecting or something like that.

I can easily predict that no one on here will get in any way carried away by Aquilani's performance in a pre season friendly against Malaysia.

He had a good game. Credit where its due.

meaningless friendly- check
lots of time and space on the ball - check
no rough house treatment from opposing midfield enforcer - check

I reckon that Aquilani is a very talented player but is too chicken shit for the Premiership

I think most skillful, passing players play better when no one is kicking them and they have time on the ball.

If he stays and keeps fit it will be interesting to see how things turn out. I'd rather have a player of his caliber on the bench than not.
Absolutely.
Though the non chicken shit ones aren't so prone to getting rid of the ball quickly to avoid a kicking.

The fact that he did tremendously well while his competition in midfield only managed to get one goal doesn't really matter really, 'cause I mean they didn't have lots of time and space on the ball and got rough house treatment from opposing midfield enforcers.

Fact is Aquilani was MOM.

...and IMO he managed to perform despite playing with the "B-team".

There's a difference between retaining possesion, keeping the ball moving and getting rid of it quickly to avoid a kicking. It is a passing game after all.

Loads of people liked him before he played against Malaysia actually.

None of those "people" seem to be managers of European football clubs it seems.

Starting to understand how it feels to be a "Downing lover" with Ryan around.
