I think people are focusing on the goals he scored and not the amount of goals he provided to others.
Barnes was never a selfish player like Suarez is.
But then again Barnes wasn't a striker and shouldn't be compared to Suarez.

As I've said a few times - Suarez does things on the football pitch that I've only ever seen Messi do ... Digger is a legend, and we shouldn't compare a player who'll never be that for us, but footy skillz wise? Suarez is the best we've ever had. It's not even close, unless you want to bring in Le Tellac obviously! 😉

I have seen plenty of both - Suarez does things on a consistent basis that only Messi can do. Enough posters who've seen both in their eras live - unlike you and I - say the same thing. Piedro was too busy chasing girls to watch Digger that much.

But there is plenty of things that Suarez can't do that players like Bale or Ronaldo can do.
Suarez is gifted but he's no footballing genius.
He is definitely not in the same bracket as Messi and below that isn't as good as Ronaldo. Looking back at the great players over the years, he's not at the level of Zidane or (fat) Ronaldo, before his injury either. He is a quality player but let's not kid ourselves that he's a phenomenon.
Barnes, when he was fit, was supreme. He scored far better goals than Suarez has ever managed to.
Suarez is better than Barnes was, they do play different positions, and Barnes was amazing THAT season, and had a good few seasons before losing his legs and changing his role, but Suarez is a true mercurial cultured player. Unfortunately he's also a massive dickhead.
I don't necessarily disagree with the gist, but Barnes was definitely a "truly mercurial cultured player" too.
I never said Suarez was at Messi's level - he just does things on the ball that only Messi does. He's at that tier below Messi & Ronaldo, who are at a level that no one else is close to currently in world football.
Fat Ronaldo and Zidane were close to Messi and Ronaldo than Suarez is, yes.
I think the fact Suarez is in the doghouse is leading some posters to forget just how good he is.

If it's what is best for Liverpool, then yes - move him on. If we're doing it just because of what he said in the press, but it's not best for Liverpool, let him get us into the CL and then re-assess. He's entering his prime now ... His value will only increase ...

It's had minimal coverage. If Barca are serious about a player, you fucking know it, especially when the mooted fee is that much.
