Bloody impressive, eh?

I said years ago I would target Lukaku above any other striker going. He is simply outstanding.

Any other striker? Anywhere? Right

Well in terms of targeting a player at a realistic price who it was obvious was going to be great, yes, I couldn't see anybody I'd rather have a punt at. This was when it was beginning to be obvious Suarez would go and he was on loan at Everton.

How come we got Benteke and not Lukaku? Strange.

He moved to Everton in 2013 on loan. We didnt need a striker at that point.
In 2014 when he moved there permanently we could have made a move for him and not Balotelli. But would he have chosen us at that point?
Now its no point whatsoever.

Should have been after him when he was at Anderlecht.

I wonder how Benteke would be doing if he got the game time and service that Lukaku gets.
Good point... Lukaku has been at Everton for 2 seasons; Benteke is in his first season with us, we've had a change of managers, and been through our worst injury spell. Any comparison of the two players' relative strengths should really wait until end of next season. Not likely to happen though , as Benteke will still be 2nd or 3rd choice striker.

I'm not sure there'd be that much difference TBH. Benteke's better in the air but Lukaku's quicker and more mobile, hence better suited to capitalise on such service, besides which Benteke's always been prone to lapses of form. I also suspect Lukaku has more between his ears than Benteke, so is both more willing and more able to make changes in his own game to improve the situation.

Also, Benteke is one of the dumbest footballers I've ever seen, and Lukaku is not.
