Luis Suarez pwned by the Lizards and is Staying, and has said sorry to BR and teammates

The fee has got absolutely nothing to do with it and Ross' point is more than valid.

Whenever a player is linked to us, let alone signs, there is a huge tendency to start arguing his case on the back of that. I'm guessing that trait is not unique to Liverpool fans on 6CM either.

As for judging a player, this isn't 30 years ago when players nobody had ever heard of were being brought in from the Scottish second division. People having been watching Toure for the best part of ten years now and as such are more than able to provide an opinion.

Personally, I've not seen the guy play much in the last few years so I'm in the "wait and see" camp, but if others have, that's fine. They are more than entitled to state what they think without having the superfan brigade jump on their backs claiming that a player can't be judged until they've worn a shirt with the Liverpool badge on it - which is clearly a load of fucking shit.

There's no real correlation though between people going "yeah he's wank" and determining whether that person has watched him enough in recent years, if people want to shoot down posts about him being fat, wank or whatever, I think it's equally reasonable. If someone wants to say, "you know what, I've watched him over the last couple of seasons and he's now at this stage where these are his flaws and he's not going to get any better", fair enough, but they're not, the Toure thread is made up of 95% brainless, stereotypical bullshit and a minority of posts that have a bit of reason to them but inevitably and predictably, fall by the way side.

It's equally fucking infuriating and insulting to hear posters label the defense of a player as actions of a "super fan", that's a load of fucking shit, especially when this so called "defense of the player" has stemmed from some cheap half arsed shot at the guy, as is per the nature of this place.

Cavani looks like he's moving to PSG for a big fee, which would mean that the value of quality strikers around the world has gone up some, because now there is now one less player in that pool available, and a somewhat higher financial standard has been set for players of such quality.

Add in that Real's supposedly top target Cavani is no longer available, and that Bale may very well be priced out of a move, and I could see another 50 pages on this thread before the month is up, nevermind the window.

Ive got a feeling we are just going to flat out refuse to sell him this summer.

I hope we do. If no-one is offering an eye-watering amount I don't see why we should. We've stuck by the player through controversy and I really don't see him going on strike, or playing within himself if we refuse a cheeky bid that represents bad value. That being said, I can see Madrid grudgingly matching the 40 odd million with a few hours to go.

I reckon we're gonna force Suarez to show his hand and he's going to end up looking an even bigger tool than he already does. He'll force this by the close of the window and we'll all hate him for it.

We have to keep him. Nobody will offer what we're after this summer.
He seems to weirdly be in the second tier amongst the marquee signings for the big clubs.
If he performs at around the same level this season as the last, I'm positive he'd be THE marquee signing for Madrid and the rest. And he'd still have 3 years left in his contract.
And hopefully we'd be in an even stronger position, having finished in the top 4.

We need to push on from last season and he can certainly help us more than any attackers. We shouldn't get bullied by that fuckhead Pirez or whatever his name is.

It depends how much Suarez forces the issue, he's not adverse to going off on one to get his own way, so it depends how much we want to be dragged through the media, if he plays games we could be forced into selling and that's when it becomes cagey over the price.

That is one of the biggest nails on the head for ages for me.

Go Super Fan!,

Ha! Christ thats a weird move. As Bascombe wrote it has to be a tactic
re Higuain.

Well they're rumoured to after Rooney as well so it could be they're keen on signing 2 big name strikers.

V.early days but it is worrying that our rivals for top 4 are going after quality players. Spurs getting the Paulinho deal done too.

Yes, because our top 4 rivals have never gone for quality players before. Ever.

Suarez to Arsenal wont happen. Rooney has a 200k weekly wage so I doubt he'll go there.
Paulinho looks a great signing for Spurs. A good striker aswell and they'll be a tough side to beat.
Its probably Bales last season so they better make the best of it.

Why would Suarez want Arsenal? Champions league yes, but a sidewards move in every other regard. Must be a tactic with Higuain, or an attempt to appease fans with "big bids"

It looks rather made up to me, appeasing the fans with "big bids" is fine but even Arsenal fans would be able to spot that that particular bid is laughable. From a Suarez "press" point of view and from a price perspective.

In a way its annoying that it is printed, it even winds me up when posters on here say 40M etc... 40M for a player that good would be a disastrous sale, as for 30M!!!

If we must tempt fate and discuss selling then we should all use a good minimum price in our discussions... 60M.
He wont attract a bid that large but in terms of his talent that is exactly the kind of figure he is worth. I hope the club don't lose sight of that, 30M,40M... Sorry but no deal.

What I don't quite get is how bidding for Suarez will 'force' Real Madrid into agreeing to Higuain's sale. RM apparently rejected a €27m bid last week. By bidding £30m for Suarez, they're only showing they have the money to up their bid for Higuain. Now that the bid has been rejected, wouldn't RM be like "now, give us that amount and Higuain is yours"?

It is also worth noting that only Chris Bascombe's The Telegraph and Tony Barrett's The Times claim "Arsenal have had a formal bid of around £30 million for Liverpool striker Luis Suárez rejected" and "Arsenal have had a club record offer of £30 million for Luis Suárez rejected by Liverpool" respectively.

The other papers, like Guardian are saying "according to reports on Sunday night" or adding "- reports" to their headlines. Daily Mail's David Kent mentions "ambitious enquiry for Liverpool’s Luis Suarez" and "Liverpool have yet to receive any bids".

Could we be the people who placed this story in the media to try and force the Suarez situation, so that if Real are going to bid, then they will sooner rather than later?
