Suarez sets sights on new Liverpool deal

Luis Suarez: "I'm already thinking about staying many more years at Liverpool."

Luis Suarez is less than a year into his Liverpool career, but is already thinking of extending his contract at Anfield.

Liverpool shelled out nearly £23 million to lure Suarez away from Ajax, with it believed the capture of the Uruguayan was a long-term project. That may still be the case, but he has made a blistering start to life on Merseyside and is the focal point of their attack.

Suarez has overshadowed fellow January signing Andy Carroll, who he is convinced will come good, and he is revelling in life under Kenny Dalglish at Anfield.

"I've just started a phase of my career which I always dreamed about and wanted to do, which is to play for Liverpool," he told the Daily Mirror. "I have five years left on my contract and I think beyond that, I'm already thinking about staying many more years at Liverpool.

"It's a club I like. I feel very good about being here, about being in the city.

"I feel very pleased. It would be difficult to match the atmosphere, hunger for success and glory that this club has at another team."

Suarez's strike partner Andy Carroll is under pressure after a stuttering start to his Liverpool career, but he expects the England international to come good.

"Playing alongside a player of Andy's quality, who's big, skilful, who brings the ball down so well, makes it easy for a striker to play with him," Suarez said. "What happened though, was that Andy had the bad luck to be injured for several games and when he came back from that, he picked up another injury. It was difficult for him to get himself into the team because just when Andy came back, the team was playing well and the manager didn't know who he could drop.

"Now having trained and after a good pre-season for Andy with his team-mates, the more training sessions we have together, he will be better.

"We'll get a much better understanding of each other and that can only be good for the team."

Its already in the "for those who want to believe" thread Asbo.

For what its worth I prefer your title

Im not buying in to anything anymore....hes a fantastic player and I do hope he stays for a long time but the second after I declare my love for him he#ll probably be playing up front for the chavs with that other cunt!

He's like 24 right?

If we don't improve VASTLY by next season, he'll be gone.

So basically I'm giving him one more season.

If anyone buys this shit, i've got some special magic beans id like you to buy from me.

It worked for the last guy who bought magic beans so I might get one or two from you as well.

Merge it yourself. I'm nobodys slave. And stop treating this place like an hotel. And tidy your room

Straight to the point Modo ? - completely agree with your analysis, if in 1 seasons time we are not playing in CL - he is going somewhere else.

Torres has made us so cynical , what a shame.

I am up for believing Luis is a little bit of a character and will stay.

Talking of Fernando apparently he does not feel as comfortable (at home) in London as he did in Liverpool.........................no shit El Sherlock

regards

Ok, leaving aside our blatant cynicism, the club should use this to their advantage.

Publicly announce plans to give him a new better long term deal, 6 years.

Then offer it to him.

That way if he's lying & leaves we get more cash. If he's genuine about it then it wards off bids to unsettle him.

Win win IMO.

That's the right plan FFF.
I know contracts mean fuck all these days but if Luis is under a 4-5 year contract we will get the maximum amount of dosh when he does leave.

The slight difference in situation between the two is that Torres turned up when we'd just been in our 2nd CL final in 2 seasons and he expected us to be straight back in another one. Then we sold a load of boss players and put up with shit ones - you can see his logic. Suarez has turned up when we were already shit, so the expectations must be lower.

I wouldn't be testing his resolve by offering him a better contract. Why upset the apple cart? If we're still a load of wank in 18 months who could blame him for leaving?

I don't think it's as simple as "he means/doesn't mean it" period. I reckon he genuinely likes it here and hopes to stand by what he says in the interview (why the heck would he bother saying it otherwise?) but I also recognise that if we don't keep improving he's bound to look elsewhere.

He's a fucking Jonah, we was in The League cup, European Cup, FA Cup, European Cup finals in 4 years until he joined us then all our fucking luck ran off, and now he is with Chelsea and they are shit too!!

He's like a reverse King Midas, every English team he touches turns to Shit......
