I might stay up for this one.

Could be interesting alright

Boulton Vs Campbell Round 2 if you will.

Dreamy is Boulton clearly. He's got the better ammunition in this case, recent results are on his side, and he should win.

But you know he won't. He'll get flustered, flail around furiously - absolutely aghast that he's incapable of getting his (evidently more favourable) position across, and end up looking quite the imbecile.

Watch it unfold.
Ryan the fact you admit I should "win" this one says it all.

Your initial post was aimed to sitr shit and prove how smart you are with your Lucas love it.

Your post wasn't even "If Lucas makes the squad", it was "If Lucas Starts!" making it clear you were convinced he would make the squad. So in short you've been made look a tool again.

Lucas played all but 3 games at CM for one of the most recognisible teams in world football and still doesn't make the squad.

You have cried all season about the fact that Dunga and Rafa rate him so we all must know f*ck all, yet when it comes to the crunch Dunga doesn't even put him in the squad nevermind anywhere near the team.

Throw in the towel mate and save yourself the shame.
Dreamy, even I want you to win this one. But look at that effort above mate - It's all over the fucking place. Just calm down, think reasonably, and type with fingers, not your fucking fist. It's like you've turned up to Crufts with the best dog by a mile, but the little fucker's just ran onto the green baize and curled one out in front of the judges. And all you're doing is smearing the thing into the carpet.

If you (or anyone else for that matter) had bothered to argue that Lucas wouldn't make the squad, then it'd make your forced effort here stand up a little bit more. But you didn't, because everyone expected him to make it, much like quite a few other South Americans that have been bizarelly left out by Maradona and Dunga.

Now, I know Lucas can play. I don't think I've ever argued he's Cesc fucking Fabregas, like those cabbages at RAWK, but just because he isn't going to the World Cup doesn't mean he's "shit" either. He's plyed for Brazil before, he'll play for them again, and whether you like it or not - he'll probably be playing for us for a few years to come too.
My rubbish typing doesn't come into and dragging that up just highlights you badly you've been caught with your pants down on this one.

So just bend over and take your punishment, 99% of posters on here have the Vaseline ready.

Every single time someone pointed out that Rafa's biggest blind spot was Lucas, you would retort was always "Well if Rafa and the Brazilian coach think he's good enough, blah blah blah".

Well now its just you and Rafa. Hmmm maybe just maybe Lucas isn't good enough after all.

And as for your pathetic comment that he's played for Brazil before and will play for them again? Who the f*ck cares?
He played over 45 games for LFC this season and didn't make the sqaud for the biggest comp in world football. Everyone is well aware of Brazil's tendency to pick average players outside of the world cup.

Bottom line the World cup is where is it and if your fit playing over 40 a games a year for a big club and don't make the squad well then it firmly points to you not being good enough. This is something most on here have said over and over. LUCAS IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Yes he can fill a gap, yes he can be a decent squad player, but can he shoulder the responsibility of the position and make his own like so many have done in the past? Can he F*ck.

You started this thrad so you could dig it up midway through the world cup and preach how right you were. It's laughable.

Just give it up

Aren't Lucas, Insua & N'Gog the only young players who get a game? They're bound to be 1-2-3 in the young player of the year votes.
It's no benchmark of quality, mind. Like asking what is the least stinky shit; dog shit, wolf shit or panther shit?

Lucas Leiva was today crowned Liverpool's Young Player of the Season following a fans' vote on Liverpoolfc.tv.

After revealing Pepe Reina as the winner of our main award yesterdat, we can today confirm Lucas has won your vote as our best young star.

Thousands of votes were cast - but it was our Brazilian midfielder who clinched the accolade with 48 per cent of the vote.

Lucas was a virtual ever-present in Rafael Benitez's starting XI during the course of 2009-10 as he figured in all but three of Liverpool's Barclays Premier League fixtures.

In total, the 23-year-old made 50 appearances for the Reds after heading into the campaign on the back of a glowing endorsement from the boss, who hailed him as our best player of pre-season.

In fact, only Dirk Kuyt, Pepe Reina and Jamie Carragher turned out for the first team more than Lucas during the term.

Arguably the highlight of a season of real progression for our No.21 came during Liverpool's 4-1 Europa League quarter-final, second-leg victory over Benfica at Anfield in April.

Lucas capped a man of the match performance with a superbly taken goal, in which he coolly rounded the goalkeeper and slotted into an empty net after collecting Steven Gerrard's through pass.

Emiliano Insua was runner-up in our poll with 20 per cent of the vote, while David Ngog and Ryan Babel were joint third with 11 per cent each.

Some depressing points there
If he was English, had just put in the same season and got the same accolade I'd wager at least 50% of the people on here would have a completely different stance on this and with regards to his future.

I'm just surprised anyone voted. Must've been the RAWK rabble.

That just sums up why we're so fucking shit

Still, I have a feeling that none of that trio of cunts will be starting players at Liverpool next season

To be fair on all three, they cost a combined, what? £8m? And all three have had to play a significant part in a (so called) title challenge with neither the experience or quality (as their price tags suggest) to do so.

Rafa shouldn't have left us so short, but saying "I have a feeling none of those cunts will be starting for us next season" is hardly going out on a limb, given the only reason they played is because there was no fucker else!

They're kids, relatively speaking, they should have played a bit part, mostly from the sidelines, instead they had to play about 100 games between them.

He had options available that could have seen the playing time of all three reduced

He chose to ignore them, and paid the price

Who did he have to cover Insua? Aurelio was unfit, defensively we were short. Agger and Skrtel both had injury problems throughout the season, and Zorba was gradually drafted in. We had no other left back.

N'gog covered for Torres, granted he could have used Kuyt more, or Babel, but the latter has never proven himself when he's played upfront.

Lucas and Mascherano was a poor partnership, he should have played Gerrard or Aquilani when he was eventually fit, but anyway, that was the fault of the partnership rather than the options. Whenever we played Masher OR Lucas with another we generally got a result.

I would have thought it might depend on what the animal has eaten. For example if the wolf had recently scoffed down a pile of green vegetables, or a hot curry, then it might be in with a shout.

As you say, beyond that he's limited, and I do agree that there's not a lot of inventiveness going forward or in that final third, but 'comfortbale in possession' he can do. 'Excellent in possession' no, but then he's not alone in our squad in that respect.
The least LFC should expect from a CM is the above, sadly it's not enough. We need creativity in that position and Lucas can't provide it, so should be replaced ASAP.

I don't particularly want to see him replaced as I think it would cost at least as much to find someone to fill his rightful squad player role. We need to add someone better to step into the position. Unless Gerrard is going to be pulled back into midfield or Aquilani is going to be given a proper crack alongside Mascherano. (Or both of those scenarios, which is what I would likely choose.)

He's fine for the squad and 99% of posters on here have said that. What he's not fine for is to play 50 odd games in a crucial position when he creates fuck all for the season.

From game one most of us said We'd have preferred Gerrard there with Yossi in the hole to begin with(which he excelled in when he was played there. He created the opener against Utd and scored a hat trick against Burnley) and Aquaman once he was fit.

Either one of those scenario's would have seen us finish much higher than 7th I'm positive.

Bottom line. Lucas is not good enough for our starting 11 every week and now it appears Dunga agrees.

Ryans argument was always well if Dunga Rafa and I think he's good..............blah blah blah.

Well now its just Ryan and a manager most people would say has lost he plot.

It's laughable how Ryan hasn't conceded yet that Lucas isn't good enough.

I agree with all that, Dreamy. Just don't think selling Lucas (unless we get a stupid offer) is really in the cards.
Its not on the cards because that stubborn fool will start him all next season in front of Aquilani disregarding the fact we look so much more dangerous with Alberto in the team.

I sincerely hope not. I'd like to see Lucas stay with us and continue to develop but if he plays fifty games next season, my next Anfield trip will be with death on my mind not soaking up the atmosphere.
