chin up lad, make up for your howler in the next game.

christ what a thread to start, and the onslaught may commence!!!

Unfortunately being marginally underrated doesn't equate to good enough.

I know Rafa stressed we bought Aquilani for the long term but Christ it's costing us at the moment.

lucas is trying too hard to prove himself, he needs to settle down, there is no one to take his place (for now) his passes are either too cautious or way too harried.

He needs to stop hiding from the ball and step up up to the plate. He's been talking a good game all pre-season - time to show the same kind of confidence on the pitch. He doesn't seem to realise the weight of responsibility on his shoulders to make things tick in that midfield. Masher is not a playmaker, and never will be. Too often Masher was picking the ball up deep and Lucas was actually RUNNING AWAY from him. He needs to make himself available A LOT more often and actually look to assert himself, rather than being content with completing a few passes and not being the worst player on the pitch.

well I've done my bit to defend him when really it should be ryan's job.
I'm surprised how quickly can turn on someone considering the praise he gleened from the stoke game which was less than a week ago.

the truth hurts but everyone of you will sigh a sign of relief if we sell him at xmas. simply not good enough regardless of how people try to talk him up

Didn't know he was logged on or even a member for that matter.

Its not a knee jerk reaction, is it tho.. Hes a squad player and will be just that when alberto gets fit

It was awful to listen to that utter dickhead, Joe Royle, blathering on about Alonso being missed as if it was LFC's decision to move him on.

Yes he gave away an own goal. But he wasn't stopping us scoring or missing chances. We could have put the game to bed before the freak own goal. We got back into it and Gerrard gave away a needless penalties.

Many of our supposed stars didnt perform tonight yet we'll hammer Lucas all over the boards as if he went out of his way to help us lose.

Do you expect a turd to turn into a gold bar?

well if you polish it enough.....

not meaning to knock lucas seeing as he was the only one within a country mile of the header but he was unpressured so why exactly did he direct the header towards goal? but having said that he was the only player NEAR the header, our positioning this season for set peices is bordering on disgraceful. three goals from set peices in three games.

The thought of Lucas and Mash being the engine of the team until Aquilani gets fit is not a very nice one.

if we had taken our chances tonight - this conversation would not be happening.

I am his biggest critic, but Gerards as culpable as Lucas tonight. Take our chances and the dream is still on,lose and we need to blame someone.

Im worried whenever lucas starts a match now.

I'm sure he is too, the poor fecker. I've NEVER seen the Anfield crowd give a player so much stick at that stage in his career. Mind you, some of them were dozing off when we were playing fairly sensible and patient possession football.

Get a dictionary look up the words over and reaction and then push them together.

the need for a scapegoat is the horrible side of football.

Not an overreaction, he's just not good enough.

He can pass sideways and backwards absolutely fine. Has a good enough footballing brain to slip in the odd ball but just doesn't do it frequently enough i'm afraid.

I've tried to see some posititves in lucas's performances but just can't. Like I said on numerous accounts he just doesn';t have the ability to force a game, doesn't drive forward or doesn't have the capablity to go past a player to set up someone. It's just not there.

The last time I felt that about a player was when Diao pulled on a red shirt.

Oh and its not a scapegoat, i'm just more frustrated we don't have anyone in that key area to force the game like Alonso did. Most the liverpool team were shite today, that including torres and gerrard.
