Lucas to get new contract

You can be fucking sure Aquilani was top of that list, and guess what Roy, you fucking listened.

Backs up Benitez's belief that Purslow got far too big for his boots.

This shouldn't be forgotten either.

yep, absolutely.

there's an old liverpool saying: 'white liquid in a bottle - Christian Purslow's run out of Kleenex'.

He's really not very good. It really pisses me off when he has one decent game and all of a sudden the doubters were wrong.

Fuck off please.

RAWK:

Haha what a love for Lucas, like it or not, Lucas was at fault for that goal

Rawkcunt: Was he though? If you watch again his instinct was to close Carol down, but then he looked back at his teammates and saw where they were lined up behind him. Maybe the tactics of sitting back, absorbing pressure and getting in "banks of 4" was to blame? Maybe?

Watch it again closely

Pathetic defending by him

Rawk cunt: Doesn't help that the central defender, who should have been in the space Carroll used, was pushed upfield, like a Blue Square side, to chase the game late on.

He is an average footballer who can do a job in a well oiled team, if called for. To have him as the fulcrum of our starting eleven is just asking for trouble.

But i do see little improvements he has made in his game almost on a match by match basis, but it's still not enough for him to play at the level we want our starting CM to play at.

Tackling - check
Distribution of the ball - check
Physicality - check
Technique - check
Dribbling into space with pace - check
Tactically aware/disciplined - check
Aerial ability - check
Assists/creating chances/incisive play - check

Only things he needs are to shoot more/goals (his Gremio highlights, and the occasional game for us, show he is more than capable of this), and to perhaps a little more aggression when it comes to demanding the ball.

lucas has done well over the past month or so but let's be honest here, it was usually home games or games where we were expected to have most of the possession. the second pressure is applied to lucas and the tempo increases he buckles. far too easily shrugged off the ball.

Yeah right..... prem footballers are shaking in their boots thinking about Lucas' "physicality" and ability to "dribble with pace"......

lucas is pretty much a waste of space away from home as he is too easily outmuscled. still a better option than poulsen though...

I missed a lot of the game, was he worse than vs Everton?

He put in an average display, just like many other players who started yesterday.

He wasn't great, but then I could list four or five who were miles worse than him.

I didn't think he was bad at all, him and Meireles played the midfield well, but they both shit out for the third goal, Lucas was slow to close down and Ming turned his back like a big fucking girl.

No surprise to see the usual culprits making him the scapegoat though.

I would argue that for the last month he's being helped out by the utter, utter shiteness of other player's performances rather than any consistently good form by him.

Not really mate. In the games where he's been excellent recently (Villa, Chelsea, etc) there have been plenty of other good performers.

I think he is not good enough to start for us if we are to move up the table and fight at the top. That much is certain, where i'm seeing things from.

What does he offer us?

Yes, others have had a poor game than him, but his position has been a problem position for over two years. That is the reason why people get on his back when he has a bad game. You can't use a good game here and there as a justification....he is not good enough.

That's actually my main worry regarding Lucas. He never seems to put in a good performance when the team overall is having a bad game. He is not the only one of course(at least Maxi comes to mind also) but because he plays in a such an important position it is more of a problem.

If anywhere it's in the spine of our team(central defense and midfield) where we need consistently good performances and the likes of Lucas and Skrtel just can't give us that at the moment. This is of course exposed more in away games.

I think that's the biggest problem with our squad - we do have too many players who can only perform when things are going our way.

We'll struggle until that's rectified.

That's one of the fundamental requirements of a good player. Which is why the likes of Lucas isn't one, and never will be.

It's astounding to me how long it's taken for some people to realise this, but instead we have had to suffer four years of the cunt, and his palsied fan club popping up every once in a while when he hasn't played like a mong, telling us this makes him a good player.

It's been like that for a good few years now, it's just become more and more apparent when you take out top performers like Masher and Alonso.
